that they've officially joined the "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" way of thinking. They probably hate MS more than they hate Nintendo.

I know a lot of people around here directly disagree with that sentiment, but w/e.

Plus, Mass Effect doesn't have a Metacritic score yet, so let's not claim anyone victor juuuust yet. (I say that, of course, having fallen in love with Super Mario Galaxy).

Point here...the critics want that nostalgia and will give this better scores than Uncharted, COD4, and Assassin's Creed...even though most gamers would rather play those three. COD4 or Mario? Um...

I personnaly prefer Mario to a shooter game. I think it's a matter of tastes, and we can discuss it all night long, but some people will always prefer Mario and some will not. But the fact is the Mario is the emblem of "video games" ... like it or not ... and the other fact is that most of people here are fanboys and biaised, unlike the majority of the critics over the internet such as IGN... This game is fun, I actually have it ... and I'm also playing Halo 3 (game I like)... and I prefer Galaxy ... well that's my choice...

Haven't played Galaxy. Or read any reviews.

Seeing as I fall into both of those categories, I can tell you that Mario Galaxy is quite innovative. It really does change the way platformers (dareisay games altogether?) are played.

@below:
Yeah, AC seems like a fun game. It seems FUN, but with all honesty it's not anywhere near GOTY and any reviewer who is anything resembling legitimate would support that sentiment.

And your points about Galaxy as a whole are complete BS. Nostalgia? Jesus man, read a review. It's insanely fun and it twists the platformer genre, that's why its been getting good reviews. Try to play it before making sweeping generalizations about how good it is.

And gamers don't want Galaxy? Really? News to me. Go to your local GameStop and take a look at the Super Mario Galaxy booth. Oh, and then look at sales next week. I think either event you'll find yourself sadly disappointed.

It's absurd... This game is not a revolution and apparently everyone's checks cleared so it's alright to go on thinking it is. As I said in my review of it. Mario still controls like he always has in 3-d space.. with an Analog stick, only now he's running around spherical planets ripped right the pluck out of R&CUYA and R&CGC "yes, Sonic A... to a lesser degree" but it's not a revolution. The suits he obtains are about as worthless as putting honey on your nuts and shaving with it.

Ehh? Not sure if you've noticed, but some games have similarities. Pick up two sci-fi shooters and- guess what? They might be pretty similar. Cartoony platformers are no different.

Why you hold Mario to such high standards is beyond me. Actually, no, it's not- I'm guessing because you hate Nintendo. Face it, if Super Mario Galaxy came out on the PS3 you would be singing its praises because, heck, there probably isn't a Sony game you wouldn't pretend to love.

I don't get it. I got Super Mario Galaxy this morning (after a 2 hour search I got the last copy at a local game store).

Let me start by saying that Mario 64 is one of my favorite games. I beat it with all the stars on the 64 and the DS. With that being said...

Well... I fired it up and had high hopes because of all the great reviews. I have always complained that the planets seem way too small. Well... I'm not too far into the game. Probably like an hour but I am not yet having fun. The planets are soooo small, the controls use too many functions per button, and the shaky thing with the controller makes fighting too imprecise. And... walking upside down on a planet is a little ackward. Probably my only real gripe out of all those things is that I hope there are larger planets. I don't want to do small "mini-game" like levels. I'm going to play more and see if my view of the game changes. Oh... and the analog stick on the Wii remote is not half as good as the PS3 and 360 analog stick. It is uncomfortable within even a couple of minutes.

and I even hate more my Wii; I do not if it is because I am older or what but The Wii next to my Xbox 360 is crap; I got CoD4 and it looks great however Mario Gaalaxy feels like Mario 64, it is the same crap maybe for little kids who hasn't play mario 64 or others marios it may seem funny.

My father even played Galaxy and he likes it ... he played all Mario titles till the first one on the arcade and thats the only video games he can tolerate... You made your choice, right, but it doesnt makes you cooler or older ;)

The thing is that Nintendo is a pretty good game developper ... that's a fact not an opinion. The rest is the taste of the gamer. If you prefer shooters, free violence, cartoons, Mario ... or anything else. By the way Zelda for the N64 is the best game of all time according to a lot of critics, including Metacritic, and it deserve it.
