Super Smash Bros. Brawl US Delay Confirmed, Feb. 10th Release

At Nintendo's US Media Summit today, it was confirmed that the US would also be experiencing a two month delay for Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The title isn't set for a release here until Sunday, February 10.

Just because the technology is similar it doesn't mean the game can't be so feature rich that it requires a little longer testing cycle. Besides as far as we know, Sonic might be a very late ingredient in the mix, thus forcing Nintendo to do more testing.

Unlike other publishers, Nintendo does not delay games for the sake of it. When they delay games it is because they are making sure the games are up to their extremely high standards, and if this is the case with this game, then so be it.

yeah Nintendo needs something to fight off titles like MGS4, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Home, and that's just a few from sony's side. If you ask me and this is just my opinion the wii is a big seller but lacking in the game department when it is put up agaist the big hitters.

i think that smash bros delay was a good move from a business point of view..

is not like they're gonna have a hard time selling wiis this holiday, as a matter of fact is gonna be pretty much impossible to find one.. but what happens when the holiday rush is gone??

"if" the wii was to slow down next year which seems like it might, smash bros will give it a nice kick.. actually the "only" reason that i might pick up a wii it's because of smash bros.. i've never had a better party than playing smash bros with my friends while drinking and just chilling, and i'm expecting the same from brawl

so i think delaying it it's a good idea from a business point of you, is not like wii owners are not gonna buy it just because it didn't come out for christmas

I'm selling my Wii around Christmas, and I'll buy another one in 2009. This sucks I was waiting for SSBB, Mairo Galaxy, and Mario Kart now it's being pushed back until February. What happened to December. And why did it take so long for Mario Kart to be developed. Maybe if the scrapped Mario Strikers it could have been out by now. Nintendo you're slowly killing me with the delays and droughts :( .

Which, admittedly, is strange.

I kept saying to myself "Hey dude, Brawl by Christmas is just too good to be true." And maybe it is... Chances are that if Brawl had come out on December 3rd, it would not be as compelling a package as its February 10th version.

So while this isn't news exactly worth signing over, don't cry too much, because ultimately gamers win.

If I were working for Nintendo, my only concern would be that their holy trinity just got dropped to a holy duo.

You know, I can't understand Nintendo. They always develop games at a snail pace even though their games are like mirror images (with improved graphics and different controls) of their older titles. Plus... these aren't huge final fantasy type games... these are simple party games mostly. Even hardware wise... Nintendo is always late to the show. I'm not talking about graphics power... I'm talking about having multiplayer connectivety online and basic features like that. It makes me wonder if Nintendo is seriously undermanned or if they are all smoking the same things kuala bears smoke/eat.

I thought the same thing as others... wow... Nintendo actually has more then one hit title coming out this year? That's awesome for Nintendo. Apparantly it was too good to be true. Didn't this come after Nintendo said they didn't want to release Mario Kart this year due to too many blockbusters from Nintendo coming? I guess it was because they couldn't get the games out on time.

26.1 - The thing about Nintendo

is that their important titles always have an amazing layer of polish.

Metroid Prime 3, Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy- they've all got a very pristine flawlessness about them. Very rarely are their bugs in Ninty's blockbusters.

My guess is that Brawl had not yet attained this level of perfection.

I've always felt that releasing Brawl less than a month after Mario Galaxy was going to steal Mario Galaxy's thunder a bit. Galaxy is still set for a November 12th release here in the US I believe, and the old release date for Brawl was just 3 weeks after.

But now that Brawl is set for a Feb 08 release and Mario Kart is set for release sometime in Spring 08, I'm thinking that one of those titles will steal thunder from the other one. Traditionally, there has been somewhat of a software release lull after the holiday season so I guess I can't really complain, but it just seems a bit weird to me.
