GameSpot Q&A: Peter Moore debuts at EA's GameShow

Peter Moore was on stage, proudly holding a Sixaxis controller aloft and touting EA games made for his "new favorite console," the PS3. A moment later, he did it again wielding the Wii remote and nunchuk. "And now here's my other favorite console," he said, to boisterous laughter from the audience.

Former Microsoft VP and Xbox 360 chief Peter Moore made his EA debut at EA's 2007 Studio Showcase event in Redwood City, California, on Wednesday. GameSpot caught up with him and asked him some thorny questions about his new stance on the console war, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, and the controversial frame rates of Madden NLF '08 and future EA Sports titles.

About NBA 08:

"You'll see it running at 60 frames on PS3. Once the consumer gets that in their hands, the Madden issue will become ancient history. I think you look at any development cycle, and when you've had the hardware as long as the studios have for 360 in relation to what they had for PS3, you've got this normal chronology of getting your hands on the hardware a year later. It's a little bit of a hangover from that. But that's behind us now. By the time we get to November and NBA Live ships--all gone."

Thats great I'm happy to see that he will not be bias to MS and that he will do what needs to be done to make good games for the PS3, I said before that he might be bias and support MS more but I'm happy I was wrong. At the end of the day business is business and playing favorites just doesn't work.

8 - Moore: "You will see 60fps on Playstation 3" Weird.

Peter Moore comes across as a down to Earth nice guy.

But considering his visible presence at Microsoft; when he started talking about getting 60fps on Playstation 3 games it all seemed a bit weird. Like I had woken up in an episode of the Twilight Zone.

But it just goes to show that whilst the super-fans of the 3 consoles are believers in their favourite, these guys are ultimately doing their job.

still weird. What next? Miyamoto developing on the 360?....

10 - Moore`s alright

As long as he stands for what he says and manages to get EA`s multiplatform games to at least have more stable fps, that`s a good thing.

Must say i don`t agree with him on the monopoly-question. I think it would be better if all sports games could have the license so they would be accurate in that regard, and let the best game win. A lot of people buy FIFA because they see the name on the box and/or knows they have the license. I do want to see Pro Evo to start making progress with their presentation and commentary. They could`ve and should`ve be able to enhance it further without the license than they have so far though.

I do realize that having the opportunity and money to buy the license exclusive is something every company would probably do as well.

Whether your an fanboy or not, You have to like peter's honesty. I'll say this ; with my 360 getting the RROD and Peters vote of confidence in the PS3. I think I'll be getting my ps3 sooner than january. Is it me or did it seem like Peter didn't seem to enthused about the 360's future????

12 - the thing about ps3 will get 60 fps comments i don't like is that......

its also 60 on 360.

but because its not a big deal to get it running at 60 on 360 you never hear about it.

so a guy not so much in the know could look at this and think that the 60fps thing is a ps3 deal instead of the opposite.(its a problem on some ps3 games-not a problem on 360 games)

oh well.

he only says that because the last EA game didnt run at 60fps on the PS3! He also said its because they didnt have the time on the PS3. He seems to be telling the truth. Sort of like when he told us all "Things Break"

Im sure Madden 09 will be on eqaul footings with both systems having had the time in the hands of game makers.
