EA: Wii Caught Us Flat-Footed

EA is going to keep jumping the wrong ship...first jump on the 360 and PS3 wagon while the Wii is doing good, and then by the time the Wii starts going away from games and the 360 and PS3 do good, they'll feel stupid again and jump back to the hardcore consoles

I agree with ya... but you shouldn't call them idiots for trying to make money. By that definition, 99% of the world's population are idiots.

And if you don't like their games, then don't buy them (which I'm sure you don't). They keep making them because people keep buying them. I think the last EA Sports game I played was in '97.

thats very true what your sayin. all companies have to make money but to come out with stuff like this is jus disrespectin sony and ms. ea are a big company and they think they can do what they want but if sony and ms tyurned around and said, ok go and develope for the wii and not us. then ea would be up sh*t street. ea have to realise they cant jus jump around companies coz they feel like it

big deal im sure everyone still has their gamecube dev kits... not like there is ANY learning curve involved... and really who cares? the only good games for it will come from nintendo anyways...

p.s. i AM a nintendo fan 1st and foremost (i have every system of theirs minus the wii) so this is just a little rant of mine dont take it to heart any of you wii fanatics out there. i just dont think its right to pay $250 for a system i essentially already own with a new remote tacked on.

5 - No one buys any game for the wii..

No one buys any game for the wii, 90% of the people who bought the wii are non gamers who thinks it´s fun for a couple of months. Then it will collect dust untill theres a party and they take it out to play wii sports just to put it away in oblivion again..

Mario Party 8 and Resident Evil were 2 of the top 10 games sold last month. Wii owners are buying games.
I think EA is kind of being force to start thinking about how the game is made now with the Wii. Before all they had to do was make a game with all the same stuff different names a little better this and that and release. With the Wii the have to make use of the controller so they're forced to think about the game. We'll see, I enjoyed Tiger Woods on Wii and SimCity for the DS is awesome.

Well for starters the stylus was meant to build cities. You lay out the roads and zone your area's and you only need to build water towers with no need of pipes. You have advisors that give you your annual report of earnings and tell you if you get a new building or let you talk to the folks. They can get annoying so you can skip them if you want but you might miss out on a deal so...
When first starting the screen felt a bit small to be honest, but after a little while it was no worries. After you fill a map and built what you wanted to and would like to build a neighboring town that sadly cannot happen. Only one city at a time for this handheld but what can you do it is a cart. All the graphs are there for viewing pleaser and you can get the deals are there to take. Pretty decent port for a PC to DS game and it has a good pace and tight controls. If you're a fan of SimCity and you have a DS you should probably consider getting it.

EA did jump the wrong horse and now they're jumping on the wii a little too late....The gaming industry knows the wii will slow down in the market...EA jumping on the wii wagon doesn't even guarantee them sales...Problem with EA is they look at that scenario...they did with the psp with a decent install base and now look at games like ncaa08 and nascar08 won't be on the psp cause it didn't sell. They're going to jump ships a little too late...And next gen gamers especially with the PS3's install base will continue to grow with the longer lifespan and install base

i think one of the reasons for the wii's success is because people can get their games for free on that system :p, so i don't think going for the wii in hopes of big profits is a reasonable thing to do, but i don't know squat about how the gaming industry is doing right now.i think their main focus should be the games and not the platform.

what games? the reason people buy the wii is because its a novilty item right now. there are less games for the wii than for the ps3 (someone correct me if im wrong) and NO online support but for some ultra dumb reason they are getting a free pass.

9 - I'm no fanboy of any one, but...

I can't believe some of these posts. Wii is a novelty item!? Cmon man.
Novelty items don't sell out throughout a almost 8 month span since it's release.

I thought having the largest user base generally means better overall software sales.

I have a 360, Wii, and by spring of '08, the PS3...I like to play
games, not make wild predictions. Tell me this......

Is there any sign, any little sign at all that the Wii will slow in sales? If there is please provide me with some links. I just signed on, but i've been reading these type of posts for while.

In the past, some people even suggested that Nintendo would not sell well at all. Now, they say its a fad...

Why would people hate on a console that they themselves deem inferior to the console they in fact currently own?

It should be an indicator of ones own failing to predict the outcome.
When 2008 comes around and if the Wii is still selling well, I wonder what haters of this console would be saying then.

People talk about how it has no games, no "hardcore" games, but remember, alot of developers paid nintendo no attention before the Wii's release.

We all know that all three consoles will sell and everybody will make money eventually. But it hurts fanboys when they see a practical system such as the Wii, not only outsell their favorite console with with very limited resources, but completely obliviate their favorite console in terms of sales.

Now that the developers are in, the sky is the limit for the Wii, just as it is for the PS3 & 360.

because its been selling 8 months doesnt mean its not a novelty. i can remember yo yo craze that went on for about a year. then a scooter craze that went on for about a year to. the wii is the yo yo of the games industry. this christmas will be its last period of high sales.

at least EA is trying.. FIFA and MADDEN both online for the wii... thats a big step forward and i'm liking the sound of the FAMILY FRIENDLY controls.. cause some people can't get the hang of the controls so they can be eased into it.. this goes without saying for younger children that just can't grasp what to do in a game like madden but essentially they are playing so they pick it up and then can move onto the advanced controls.

also I am excited about the NBA game thats coming.. i love basketball games.. cause they are fast paced and dunks are awsome lol.. and i also like the FIFA francise.. so if both are online that awsome.. if 1 is online its all good too..

and i am happy EA is honest that they overlooked Nintendo cause lets face it.. Nintendo wasn't doing too hot on the GC... during the first months i thought WII was gonna be like the GC with no games.. but this is a sign that they are coming :-D

13 - It's their right.

EA is allowed to develop for whomever they want, whenever they want. They can "hop around" all they want - it is their right as a business. It is stupid business sense to not go where the money is, and any talk about "disrespecting MS or Sony" is irrelevant. If you were a company, would you want to make the most money possible and please investors or would you want to worry about who you are "dissing"?

I am not sure why anyone is surprised that a COMPANY wants to make money and thus desires to concentrate the most effort on the system likely to make them the most money.
