Sony should've never announced Killzone was real-time, or even announce Killzone...that set the bar so amazingly high that it HAS to deliver or else no one will believe Sony. Then after the presentation, people would think "wow Ratchet and Clank and Uncharted look great but...damn that Killzone should have looked like the trailer!" If it does in fact look like the trailer, which about what 5% of people think if that...that would be incredible but eh...i wish i can take a time machine to next week to see what happens.

@Crotin
Think of it this way. The game is probably better for it.
Showing it off at E3 2005 put massive pressure on the development team. They know awesome just isn't good enough. Hopefully we will all be amazed at this E3.

People are expecting to see lasers shoot out of the cell chip at open a time rift where neo-nazi space ninjas jump out and do combat with robot kittens.
To your questions concerning the E3 '07, and more specifically the impact of the Great Kitten Rebellion of 3289:
1: Neo means new and since there already is neo-nazis they can't be new if they are way into the future. Maybe neo-neo-nazi would work.
- Pfft we all know these Nazis are from 1944, but went to the future using witchcraft. So they are commonly known as neo-Nazis.
2: I hope these ninjas have some kind of breathing apparatus because apparently they are from space.
-No need to oxygen or pressure when your made 95% of old newspapers.
3: I not going with the whole robot kitten thing. I mean would'nt they choose a dog to model after or even a large cat of some sort. But kittens? They are cuddly and cute.
-A deadly mistake to make. Kittens are known to be one of the deadliest beasts within our known universe. RoboKitten v.2.334 is a very dangerous model. Equipped with dual venomous exploding dart launchers, one must keep a very close eye on them. Only carnivourous howling tree stumps can be considered more dangerous, and we all know why.
4. Why would these two factions be at war anyway. What was the cause of the great war for them to do battle?
-Clearly you haven't been keeping up with your current events! Space-nazis had a secret deal with the Jehovah's witnesses to betray the Kittens. We all remember how that turned out.
5. If the cell starts shooting lasers I really would look at the ring of death issue with the 360 and think that it is not a big deal compared to shooting lasers.
-Yeah opening time rifts and endangering existence as we know it. Pretty irresponsible Mr. Ken Kutarari! Sony build quality is sh1t! My PS3 keeps shooting lasers and causing things to catch fire.
Jeez mushrooms make you think funny. Even the day afterwards...nowhere does any of that sh1t make sense...

So you are assuming that some time in the future we will have neo-nazi space ninjas and robot kittens?

Good article. Made me realise how far and high my expectations have gone. But I still want to be blown away by PS3's Killzone 2, Heavy Rain:Origami Killer, MGS4, Uncharted... and Xbox360's Halo 3, Fable 2, Mass Effect, Bioshock and Wii's Metroid Prime 3, Mario Galaxy and SSBB. Also great titles like RE4 & Assassins Creed. This E3 has to be crazy. Can hardly wait for it. Gotta prepare myself for disappointment (But I hope not to be disappointed).

7 - E3 and the big 3....
My expectations from E3 are kind of mixed.
Nintendo - Honestly I have the lowest expectations for Nintendo. Probably stemming from my distaste for the Wii. I just personally am not a big Nintendo fan. It has its place...but just not a system for me so I really dont bother to look or listen for info around them.
Sony - Man, Sony is one that I am cautiously optimistic for. I don't want Sony to fail this generation. I am not a fan of their console at the moment. But with great games and the right bundle/price break I could see myself buying a PS3. So, I am looking for Sony to come through on 2 titles at minimum that say to me....I MUST own a PS3 for them. Killzone2 is definitely on my radar as one of those possible games...but the 2nd? Well lets just say hoping to see something coming in 2007 that fits that spot.
Microsoft - My expectations for them are kinda low to be honest. But I think that really is from the fact that I have heard very little in regards to juicy rumor mill around the MS camp. I mean we already know about Bioshock, MassEffect, Halo3, Alan Wake & Too Human...but really I havent heard about anything new...which I find disturbingly odd. Normally MS leaks info like a leaky faucet, but they have been totally quiet with the exception of Halo3. So that tells me one of two...either they are going to have a rather ho hum show...or they have something really big to announce and are staying topsecret quiet about it.

I agree with all your comments. I don't find the Wii the least bit attractive. And frankly, as successful as they are, they keep shooting themselves in the foot. No multiplayer for Metroid Prime 3? WTF?
I really want Sony to step it up. I need a price cut of $200 and 5 good games... so far only Resistance would be in that list. R&C, Uncharted are already known, KZ2 is likely to be great. But so much is going multiplatform and being kicked into 08 (Gran Turismo, FFXIII) that it's hard for me to get excited... which I suppose is good, because I frankly think it'll be 2008 until the price cut comes anyway.
Which leaves MSFT... and there are so many good games coming that we already know about (Halo 3, Mass Effect, BioShock, etc.) that I wonder where they fit in something that will surprise us. Bungie has been on record to say they're not working on Halo after Halo 3, so is there a possibility we'll see at least a teaser on what they're working on next? Any chance MSFT has nabbed either Guild Wars or WoW for the 360? I doubt those, but there were rumors awhile back about there being interest in that space. I think MSFT is on the brink. I suspect we'll see a price cut, and I suspect they'll show us something other than the things many are salivating about to further whet the appetite. If they "win" this show, it helps drive momentum right into the Halo 3 release and the holidays, helping them stay ahead of the Wii. If they screw it up, well, at least they'll sell a lot of Halo 3, but they'll be choking on Wii's dust by the end of the year.

Well I know MS has some nice tricks up their sleeves...
And Sony I hope you didn't overhype AGAIN, especially not with Killzone 2 dudes. If it's not same or close to the E3 2005 CGI trailer you're officially dead.
I'll slaughter Sony myself then. On this site. Public execution! :P
Only a week to go... Great. ANd then in August Leipzig Gamers Convention, will be there for sure. Great summer it'll be
@ Lance_Leon_Lionheart (below)
I don't agree with that man. Sony showed CGI E3 2005 saying it was ingame... Now several marketing stuff came out it was on par with that. So anything less = failure. Great gameplay I may hope so... A console is something else then a handheld.
Killzone 1 sucked. PSP version was good, but also because there are almost no reasonable games for it...
I don't know, last year E3 Sony was also proud on the giant enemy crab and rrriddggeee raacceerrrr which everybody crapped on besides themselves that thought it was the best thing on the show
@ TruthHurts (below)
IF it matches the trailer. IF. Yeah. Why do you think after E3 2005 we've seen NOTHING anymore? Not because they're so sure about their stuff. If they had been sure enough, they would have shown to give the PS3 a good momentum earlier.
No. IF it matches the trailer, it has a system seller. But still nothing but matching Gears of War at best. Not matching the system. Not matching is line up of games. Not matching premium online service.
They made the stupidness themselves. They really need to get it on par, just to live up to expectations. Everything less is a loss

10.3 - You guys are nuts
I don't think it matters whether KZ2 looks like the E3 2005 video. When it actually hits shelves, that's not going to be in the buying decision for most gamers. The buying decision will be based on whether the game is going to be "it" game for the PS3. There are examples throughout video game history of games that were hyped out the whazoo and wound up being major suck-fests. I think the graphics are going to be great. The question that remains is whether the gameplay will follow.
Now, even if KZ2 is the "be all and end all" of games, it does not spell the end of the 360. The 360 has one of the best lineups of games in recent memory hitting in the next 12 months (Halo 3, Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Bioshock, Assassin's Creed (not exclusive), GTA IV (w exclusive content), Madden, NCAA 2008, All Pro Football 2k8 (all locked at 60fps, better than the 30fps on the PS3), Alan Wake, GH III (not exclusive), Too Human, Splinter Cell Conviction, Conan, My Beautiful Katamari, and, lurking in 08 sometime, Halo Wars.
So will KZ2 sell PS3 boxes? I hope so. I hope it's the thing that puts the PS3 in this race, because I like having multiple consoles that have different gameplay elements. Will it spell the end of the 360? Far from it; the 360 has an exciting lineup of games.
Tell you what... get both of them. Enjoy the best that video games have to offer!!!

the most ANTICIPATED games are coming from sony.sony fans want to see the games.and anti-sony fans want to see the games(even if they don't want to admit it).who cares if sony set the bar high.that's what they do.it's better than playing it safe.
SEGA pioneered 3D.but sony pushed 3D.i hated that they almost killed 2D(thank you odin sphere),but they took a risk and it paid off.but little big planet is 2D reborn for the 21 century.i want more games like this.high quality 3D on a 2D plane.
they pushed cd and dvd over instant cartridge loading.and it paid off.
they pushed for most systems sold.and they did it TWICE by selling over 100 million of their previous systems.
they pushed quirky games like loco roco, eyetoy, singstar, afrika,ic o,sotc.and it has paid off with industry recognition for expanding gaming beyond shooting, fighting and racing.
they pushed for backwards compatability.and it paid off.
now they are pushing for bluray, high def cinema quality graphics, parallel programming with cell, and a 3D internet community among other things.
yep.i'd rather they take risks that might pay off instead of holding us back like nintendo and playing it safe like microsoft.
wow me sony.show me what you got planned for gamers this time at E3.

Sony: Will show some stuff from annouced games, prolly new gameplay footage. There has been a lot of steam on Killzone 2, which i predict will be 50/50 in people's minds. The thing that bothers me, sony has been known for its rpg's..why not dish out some like ps2. They seem to focusing on wide veriaty of games, instead of going all fps with killzone make fans happy with GOD OF WAR 3...raise up the bar..GOW2 looks awsome and was running on ps2! My prediction: They will announce new ip(s).
Microsoft:Like people above me, whats the deal with XBOX360? No pre-crazyness? Its seems offuly fishy that there riding on announced ips (they do look awsome though). I still get the feeling that Microsoft is grinning in the dark, but why the evil grin? I think they know Sony has a lot to prove.. and they want to take some steam away from them (Same goes for sony though).
I think E3 will be a stepping stone to what both parties will do..i presonally think there both gonna hold back on something.

20 - this is my speculation on what we will see at E3
Microsoft
more on the IPTV more on games for windows with crysis also being announced for the 360 alan wake and gta4 demo on live and single player halo3 demo and a couple of new games maybe banjo gameplay and a new conkers and a short gears 2 trailer then at the end a price cut announcement that will take affect at the start of sony's conference
sony
playable killzone looking good, a new god of war announcement, heavy rain, ratchet and clank and playable mgs4 and some demo's on the PSN like killzone or mgs4 and trailers of stuff like GT.
Nintendo
new wii nintendogs with greatly enhanced a.i. and behavior and some original idea's that will surprise everyone mario stuff like golf tennis and the game with sonic and more games to support online play like metriod.

nintendo took a risk.and it has paid off as well.but they are selling us old technology in a new package.that's what they do.
i'm well aware that nintendo takes risks.the wiimote,nin ds,brain games,nintendogs,cooking mama,etc.but their thinking is:resell you something that looks new,but really isn't.
the nes tech was put in gameboy color(this held portable gaming back)
the snes tech was put in gameboy advance(this held portable gaming back)
the n64 tech was put in nin ds
the gamecube tech was put in the nintendo wii.
that's how they make money.selling you the same stuff and making money off of cheap technology that shouldn't cost the amount they are selling it for.it's why they make money on every hardware they make.
even games are recycled.mario kart snes, mario kart,GBA,mario kart nin ds,mario cart double dash.smash bros, smash bros melee, smash bros wii.that gets old REAL fast.
but i see what you're saying.i just wish nintendo would at least try to move forward with technology.it doesn't make games more fun,but at least it would look like next gen,and not last gen but "with a twist."
also said above, sony knows rpgs are coming to ps3 regardless.they are coming.white knight story should wow the gaming community as well.but they will come.

MS have been suspiciously quiet, which leads me to believe they may have a couple of surprises up their sleeve. The onus and hype is on Sony to deliver; the momentum has slowly been building and this could easily be their E3 unless MS can really drop some bombshells. If MS don't have anything new, then it'll be crowing about all their exclusives (Mass Effect, Bioshock, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey), especially those coming this year. I suspect we'll get a firm date for the Euro IPTV service. I just hope MS don't make Windows Live / XBox Live crossover their main focus.
I don't think Sony will spring any major surprises, just solid and stunning in-game footage for titles already announced, and a playable build of Killzone 2 and others, such as Ratchet.
Sony have enough ammo already for this E3. If they make too many brand new announcements they risk overwhelming their key franchises (Ratchet, Jak, GT5, FF etc) and already announced new IP's (Little Big Planet, 8 days, Drake etc). Then again, they may decide to go for the kill and show pretty much everything they have in development for the next 3+ years; but I think it'll be a slightly more humble Sony demonstrating quality over quantity. I do anticipate the Sony/Epic announcement and pretty advanced development footage from whatever exclusive they are working on.
I'm not sure Nintendo have anything fresh to bring to the Wii table, they may just trot out new versions of a few old franchises (Mario Kart, Kid Icarus, Pilot Wings) and really hype Metroid, Smash Bros, SM Galaxy - possibly announce Pikmin 3. Of course that'll be fantastic, just not jaw dropping.
The biggest news regarding the Wii will probably come from third party developers as they scramble to realign themselves with the Wii's success - I expect a lot of trailers, but very little hands on.
My total outside bet for Microsoft: A major announcement by Blizzard. Either Diablo 3 on 360 or a version of WoW.
My outside bets for Sony: Bioshock will appear on PS3 6-12 months after 360, or a new exclusive IP from Kojima productions, possibly for the PSN.
My outside bet for Nintendo: A 3rd party dev will show a game running on a stripped down version of Unreal Engine 3.
Whatever happens I really think this will be an E3 to remember.

I don't care what anyone tells you this E3 is bigger then any E3 that has come before it, for the first time ever Sony has it's back against the ropes and has no choice but to come out swinging.
This is Do or Die for Sony's PS3 because if Sony fans do not see something at this show, then you can bury your PS3 in the dirt because, this is PS3's last shot at life and if it's lost here it will be a complete lost.
They must impress at this show in-order to bring back around the consumer for the Christmas rush. It's Do or Die at this point, and never has a game been so important as it will be at E3. KillZone 2 will make or break the console.
It's never suppose to come down to one game and boxers are not suppose to hit below the belt, but it happens. Life's not fair, and KillZone 2 will make or break the system.
If it's bad everyone who has been waiting for Sony PS3 to fail will say see, see I told you. They system is just too over priced for something that doesn't do too much. But if it hits, it will sell the dream of amazing things are coming to PS3 and its' a safe bet to pick it up because the games are coming.
The ball is in Microsoft's court, it's their show to lose, if they choose too, but the game is far from over so it doesn't mean it's in the bag either. Do or Die Sony..... Do or Die.

24 - No one cares about Nintendo, and MS can't possibly compete with Sony bombshells this E3
Killzone 2 is set to wipeout MS's entire conference alone in press coverage. Setting it right up against an entire conference is a gutsy move, and I expect them to know what they're doing. They want the media to help KZ overshadow MS, I believe it will live up to the trailer and do this.
It's still Sony's game to lose since 360 has never once outsold PS2. Like ever...anywhere. Pretty pathetic. Apparently it's not ok according to Xbots for PS3 to not have many games and be outsold by a cheaper 360, but it's perfectly acceptable for 360 to be outsold by the cheaper PS2 which has more games.
My predictions for the 3.
MS: Halo 3 footage..maybe. No Gears 2 footage confirmed. Mass Effect. Some new first party stuff, mainly footage from the rest. No price drop (obviously).
Nintendo: *tumbleweed*
Sony: PSP redesign. Unlikely PS3 price cut announcement (most likely will happen in September or August with the release of Warhawk, Lair, HS etc). New footage from 1st party, new 1st party games announced. Killzone 2 bombshell. MGS4 Bombshell trailer like MGS2's legendary one. (if it shows)
