Rumour: Nintendo Announcing New Hardware At E3

According to rumours which appear credible to Jeux France, Nintendo would at this year's E3 reveal firm release dates for Smash Bros and Mario Galaxy. More importantly, Nintendo will have a "grosse révélation au niveau Hardware" [big hardware news] as well as a look at Mario Kart for the Wii.

I hope the new hardware is a harddrive. I would use that a lot more over the SD cards plus games could look better using it too. Also Nintendo did say they might add a DVD function in the Wii so that might be the new hardware.

As for Mario Kart I hope to see some new things come out for MK.

2.1 - HARDDRIVE

IF anything the greatest hardware announcement would be hard-drive.. that would make online a lot me doable especially how they keep going on about downloadable content.. i mean if there was room on the wii to put that content then maybe.. but i wouldn't be buy the harddrive until some stuff required it.

also the DVD is quite possible.. but not the first thing that popped into my head since everyone pretty much has a DVD player at home

9 - Hmmm...seems rather coy to me -

on Ninty's part. I think Reggie's seemed a little over - confident lately when it comes to SNE & MS, ya know?...... Wonder what it is? It can't be too extensive or necessary as that would raise the cost of the system and throw profits into a cataclysmic freefall and at the very least confuse the consumer. Easy as she goes captain. Maybe one side of the Wii will be made of that papaer thin OLED TV material [with built-in tuner] and the other side will incorprate the new "surface" technology. They could call it the wii-volve.

Damn besides bowling and tennis, someone might be playing Zelda... but then... there isn't so much more.

Really they can't cope with this hardware for the next 5 to 7 years. Impossible. Thus I expect a Wii HD within 2 years from now.

yeh i agree, although it is selling well etc, if it had an option for HD aswell then i expect it would "appeal" to more people thus more sales. as for when it would be released... not sure but i do agree that i think its comming.

if it is HD then i wounder if Sonyfanboys and Xbots are going to take the p!ss out of it like they did the Xbox 360 when the Elite was announced. should do as the Wii is doing better then PS3/ Xbox 360. and well normally the highest selling console always gets picked on.

12 - I don't see how "HD" -

would actually "help" the system at this point - it doesn't need help. We're talking big dollars for the addition of beefed up PSU's, GPU's, upscalers, and shaders. And Ccrrect me if I'm wrong, but in order to display the graphics and take advantage of larger and more robust game specs. wouldn't the innards of the wii have to be upgraded significantly - manufacturing / engineering -wise? I mean - I'm really not trying to be a 'tard here but the thing doesn't even play DVD's not to mention DVD 9 / x10! I mean things like vents and glues / saudering would need to be more sturdy and plentiful to complete the upgrade.

Would it be simply an AV add-on option akin to the 360 or are we talking a new system from the ground up? With new dev kits, development direction? Would the wii-mote still be the big thing or maybe a more PS'sish XBoxish type of controller? It would basically a wii on Horse roids and Super HGH with games to boot.

Meaning that the current iteration would immediately be rendered obsolete with even the hint of an imminent SuperWii-HD, right? I mean the old ones vs. the new kick a$$ ones would be worse than the Wii to GC comparisons.

People that waited and waited and got the first one would think, "damn...I really want the best one, now I have to save for that and the older ones will be outmoded - great...."......That will move them directly in front of the High Def / Blu - Ray bullet train. A place where I think Ninty doesn't feel the most comfortable. Then again, they may go back to using cartridges or something knowing Nintendo -- who knows....

Am I missing something here? It's late....

13 - My so called predictions.

Mario Kart is coming. It's been rumored since the summit media event.
Zelda and a few others were rumored at that event as well.

Hardware:

New DS colors and maybe some add-on accessories?
The black Wii with DVD player. (we all heard that one before)
HDD add-on. (nintendo had a middleware USB company working on this)
Offical Zapper gun add-on.
And maybe the rumored bluetooth keyboard and wireless nunchuck.

HDD is much needed, if Nintendo starts DC type content for MP3 and other games.
Then we can start running a proper Linux OS on the Wii as well!

Most likly we will also finally see the new colors for the Wii and Wii Remotes. Oh man so many things it could be as well that were meantioned! I'm not sure if I'm happy with a wireless nunchuck. The cord is long enough for sure, but as 13.1 said not more batteries... Oh there we go maybe they'll be releasing a lithum Wii Remote and charger as well.
