5 Of the Best Original Xbox Games Not On Games on Demand

Backwards compatibility for original Xbox games on the Xbox 360 was a big issue, to start with at least. For those that didn't get into Microsoft's big black box missed out on some great games. All Age Gaming looks at 5 original Xbox games that you should pick up that aren't available to download on the Xbox 360, but can be played in your 360.

Five of the many reasons why the Original Xbox beat out PS2.

Knights of the Old Republic, Knights of the Old Republic 2, Star Wars Republic Commando, Star Wars Jedi Knight 2, Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, Halo CE, Halo 2, The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind, Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, all the better versions of the Tom Clancy games, the better and enhanced versions of GTA 3 and GTA Vice City, the cleaner and refined versions of the Splinter Cell games, the list goes on and on. Yea, PS2 had none of those. PS2 especially sucked at Star Wars games. The only good Star Wars games the PS2 had was the Battlefront games, and thats it. It had a crappy bounty hunter game and Star Wars episode 3 the game.

Xbox Originals ftw.

Are you serious? KOTOR isn't there?

KOTOR blows ME out of the water (KOTOR's more repetitive but I didn't like that you couldn't talk to your team outside of the Normandy in ME).

while all your suggestions are valid, I'm just happy to see deathrow get some regocnition...years after its release and low sales, but recognition nonetheless. By far my favorite local MP game on the Xbox. Also, where's Panzer Dragoon Orta!?

What a shame that that game didn't get more play.It was one of the best games for the system, and is a travesty that it is not available for download over xbox live. It's even sadder that oddworld inhabitants are no longer making games. In my opinion they are one of the best devs ever- PLEASE COME BACK TO GAMES- WE WON'T TAKE YOU FOR GRANTED THIS TIME. A petition should be started to bring oddworld back to games.WE MISS YOU

I say rock the game on whatever platform you got. I played through Kotor 11 times. The game is rock-solid on the Xbox. It didn't even need to have that twist to be a fantastic game.

KOTOR is one of the best RPGs ever. Thankfully I played the real version of the game on PC, and not the fake crap version on the xbox. I still wish the xbox was never created and MS would have put their attention towards PC gaming. What a complete waste of money. I guess that's the main reason I hate the xbox so much.

I for one am very happy the xbox was created, Where would console gaming be right now if it was just the Wii and the PS3. Where would PSN even Exist if there was no Xbox live. competition Is good for the industry. I don't think it's Microsofts fault the PC gaming isn't booming. I think it's the Devs and Piracy killing PC gaming.

Should I say the same about the PS3? Man, I wish the real version of Killzone 2 was made on the PC, not on that crappy black box. Man, I wish the real version of Uncharted 2 was made on the PC,not on that crappy black box. Tsk, tsk, tsk.

9 - Dont worry
Since everyone will copy everyone, MS will more than likely resell you many of your old xbox games much like Sony is going to do with ps2 games and PSN.

I have these games still and they are all on the BC list(except 1 I think). Available BC on the 360 nice to have.

Halo 2 is backwards compatible doesn't need to be on the games on demand service when you can pick it up on disc for ten bucks.

The Xbox 180 was the first game console I ever bought on my own. its a really great console that has a premature, early death. It was built better too.

I think I played that more than most other xbox games. It's a shame we'll probably never see a sequel. I'd buy a 360 if that was announced.

15.1 - Fatal Frame
I hear ya. At the very least, they're both backward compatible titles so if you've got the discs, you can still play them on the 360. I just had to mention though that Fatal Frame 2 is the only game that actually gave me nightmares. It comes behind Dead Space in a very, very close second for most frightening game ever. In my opinion of course.

But they're so damn hard to find. Gamestop around here stopped selling xbox games, and Game Crazy can't even special order it. I'd have to buy it online, and I prolly will end up doing just so eventually. :)

3 - SSX on Tour
4 - Kung Fu Chaos
5 - Oddworld : Stranger's Wrath

20 - Two Games
First off, Rockstar's "The Warriors" was a classic and one of the most violent beat 'em ups EVER. Secondly, as good as Jet Set Radio Future was on the Xbox, I'd still like to see the original Dreamcast version rear its head. I held onto the game and my Dreamcast solely for that one title. And Power Stone 2 of course.

Jet Set Radio Future, perhaps not suprisingly given that the Xbox was initially aimed at a very hardcore gun game-loving buyer (and yet I still bought one because of the technology and the promise of games by Rare and the likes of Outrun 2) wasn't a great sales success or often mentioned by many Xbox owners, even when it was bundled with the Xbox.

I liked the Xbox game but, in a way, I prefer the look of the Dreamcast game. Too much shading can detract from the starkness of the cel shading. Really, it's difficult to beat the Dreamcast as a platform for quirky concepts. The PS3 and Xbox360 depend too much on adding so many bells and whistles that the purity of the idea can become diluted.

There has been concept art on the internet for a more youthful Jet Set Radio game, more like the first Dreamcast game. I think that, on the Wii, if they keep it fresh, bright and upbeat
(maybe less 'urban' this time and more 'Wonky Pop' in its tunes) then it could be a hit again with a whole new generation and still be an entertaining spin for fans of the series.
