Of course, it was all pure fantasy - we don't know if Nintendo will ever make another Smash Bros. game but we like to dream so we came up with our list of characters before asking you for your suggestions on the ONM Forum. Wow, most of those are pretty terrible choices. I think Bomberman and Geno (SMRPG) would work.

I think the third party characters should actually have something to do with Nintendo though, something significant which is why I think Snake and Sonic shouldn't really be in it.

I'd love to see Layle from Crystal Bearers in the next Super Smash Bros. to represent the Crystal Chronicles series because whilst the series may not be as big as the main series it's closely associated with Nintendo systems and Layle is undoubtedly a badass and probably the best lead FF character since Zidane.

I can see why Sonic was in it, as he was Mario's biggest rival for the longest time. Snake doesn't make so much sense though.

Well the first metal gears were on the NSX (It think it's MSX actually) japanese console/computer hybrid machine in the 80's. then they were ported to the NES (MG1 and MG2 zanzibar) (snake's revenga was a fan made game). also add the fact that the smash bros. series creator is a longtime friend of hideo kojima so this explains why snake was in the game.

Snake was in it because kojima wanted him to be in it. Snake was actually suppsed to be in Melee, but it was already to close to release, so Snake got pushed back to Brawl! .

Too bad that Ryu hayabusa wouldn't fit the game because the ninja gaiden series started on the NES.

An actual character of Golden sun. Be it Isaac, alex, Felix or Saturos.

Mii? Prof. Layton? Animal Crossing kids? Pheonix Wright? This is a fighting game, not a Nintendo orgy! Each SSB character should AT LEAST have their own fighting qualities, or at least be associated with fighting.

Those are much better than ONM's choices... Earthworm Jim, Neku, Wolf Link, Crash, freakin' AMATERASU!!

They all fit great and would make a great games. Too bad I can't see most of them coming up... Let's hope Nintendo let fans chose the characters just like they did with Brawl (kinda, where's Geno?!)

I dunno, The idea of Earthworm Jim in particular seems like it would be an excellent idea (imo). General opinions will obviously differ.

I, personally, would like to see (even though i have a better chance of staring in my OWN video game) a cartoon'ish concept, made to look a little less like a full-blown child molester, of Gordon Freeman runnin' around in his HEV suit; crowbar in hand.

I would imagine that Freeman aims toward a slightly different demographic of projected purchasers (maybe? not certain). If this is the case, there will be a better chance of Episode 3 being released in the next 5 minutes than Freeman appearing in a smash bros. game.

-- the potential for sweetness is there.. or it could suck completely. Chances are - we will never know.
