Edit: I also really want to see someone try and spin this. For this one thread I actually invite all the fanboys on this site. These are 100% in-game, and the winner is clear. Keep in mind we are only comparing the "glorified demo".

how would you know, PD studies their competition(playing forza 3 in E3), and they even have a better physics system for GT5.

Turn 10 just bashes the competition, lying to themselves to make themselves feel better.

Let me tell you one thing. Forza Motorsport will NEVER steal GT's spot in the world. Go to an auto show. What are you playing? Are you playing a more full game (Forza 2), or a glorified demo(prolouge). Turn 10 with forza 2 couldn't beat a demo(gt5p) for popularity, now, so its going to take A LOT for Turn 10 to get to PD's position in the world

it's quite apparent that it does not have 10x the polygon detail promised by Microsoft. In fact, it's has noticably fewer polygons than GT5 Prologue which made no such claims.

The contrast is most easily seen in the c**kpit view of the Mini. The Mini's curve filled interior is very difficult and even the usually flawless GT5 Prologue shows a few polygon edges. However Forza 3's attempt is simply horrendous.

The shortcuts Turn10 has taken with the Mini interior (completely altering parts of it with simpler shapes) is ample evidence of the limited polygon budget. They've even used a smaller field of view (as if the driver was a hunchback) to minimize the amount of interior geometry and surfaces that need to be rendered.

No doubt, there are many who were fooled by Turn10/Microsoft's claims and will continue to be fooled despite all the evidence to the contrary.

Right on. Sure GT5 looks better hands down but its not like FM3 looks bad. Seriously its like comparing a Ferrari to a Lambo... in the end you are still getting a supercar.

FM2 now that looked bad. FM3 is HUGE improvement of FM2 and all racing fans should be happy for that. In fact the only real graphical problem I have with FM3 is that it looks cartoony, otherwise its beautiful.

Sorry guys lol Forza 3 looks better. Playing it now. The detail, lighting and color in forza 3 kicks the sh8t out of GT. Those pics are not even close to the way the game looks running on hardware hooked up to a HDTV you'll see in the reviews. Forza 3 has a more realistic vibrant look to it not seen in GT. The detail in every rock, the road, the trees just blow past anything shown in GT. If you have a good HDTV(Samsung) and it reproduces millions of colors you'll see Forza 3 walks all over the color filtered looking GT with its flat cut out looking props.

It's laughable you keep comparing GTP to Forza 3. I promise you the non biased reviewers will point out what I said if not, I will never show up on N4g again.

This is almost as funny as when you guys compare Forza 3 to NFS shift.

Keep thinking that with these compressed pics. I find it funny the people doing this always find pics with no lighting effects on the cars in Forza every time they make these comparisons. The reviews will finally put this nonsense to rest.

While both games look great on the track, Forza's demo featured a polish that Gran Turismo 5's lacked. The rocky hillsides and lush greenery easily showed up the bland, almost clinical-looking cityscape of Gran Turismo. Driving slow in Gran Turismo is like inviting disappointment. I guess they were hoping you'd always be moving fast enough to not notice the perfectly flat tree and pole textures. Plants and trees on the side of the road look like paper cutouts, and the tree trunks are laughably bad. As far as the vehicle visuals go, neither game disappoints. So what makes you think GT5p doesn't look better on HDTV in comparison to those pics? Photos don't lie man. In the event that there were a loss of information when capturing F3 images, then you can sure as hell bet it happened to GT5p as well.

No matter how much you say F3 looks better, in reality it isn't. F3 has the same in-game polygonal count of its car models as in Forza 2. The lighting is fake looking and the game is running at 1.5x lower amount of pixels than a 2 year old demo. Try to spin that.

And stop lying to yourself, you were never a GT fan. You are only saying such things as an excuse to validate your fake argument. Nobody is convinced troll. LOL

Even though i dont own a PS3 hear me out before you go ape sh*t.

For me, Grand Turismo is the ONLY game Playstation has that is want. Im not interested in UC2, Demon Souls (whatever that is) and God of War.
But GT IS the greatest car sim EVER...however why is it that when ever in these comparisons they always pic such poor comparisons for both sides.

GT has the more realistic cars thats hands down, but the back drops in Prologue are well paper cut outs. which doesnt really matter since its only a demo for whats to come, which can only get better and since the game probably aint gunna lauch until probably Q2 Q3 of next year, its almost a given that GT5 graphic are gunna be majorly better than Forza 3 and Prologue.

But ive been playing the Forza 3 demo (which these screen grabs are from) and the game is better than GT5 Prologue, graphically and gameplay wise. but not that huge a difference. more or less personal belief.

But i hate Forza 3s c*ckpit view, seriously why must we sit so f***en close to the front windscreen??? and why cant we look around the c*ckpit?? everytime you wanna check your left or right the camera jumps outside the car, why?

cant wait for GT5 though. like i have said multiple times, its the only game that could make me buy a PS3.

And has anyone else noticed how the Fun Factor in Forza has vanished with Forza 3?? it just doesnt seem as fun Forza 2. i know its only the demo and only single player but seriously, its not even close as to being fun like Dirt 2.

Photos don't do either of these games justice, you have to see them in motion on the same TV. I have both systems and played both games and the difference is night and day for me.

1) I'm sorry you bought a Samsung. A few years ago I made the mistake of getting one after reading CNET reviews but I wish I had done more research on my own.

Samsung TVs have trouble with dark colors, which tend to just black out, significantly reducing visible detail. Samsungs actually use the exact same lcd panels as the Sony (joint manufacturing agreement) so the fault probably lies with Samsung's inferior circuitry.

In the high end LED backlight models, Samsung uses an inferior local dimming solution as well so there's more unwanted light bleed in and less accuracy in dark/light borders. Now I know why Samsungs cost less.

Having said that, build quality is excellent. Mine still works exactly as it did when I bought it. Unlike some brands, when you pay less for a Samsung, you are only giving up performance, not quality. From that stand point its a good value.

2) Regarding the graphics argument, what are you smoking? Perhaps you're getting paid to hold up Microsoft products. I wonder.

While GT 5 will look better than forza 3, IMO forza 3 will have the better gameplay and career mode.... and when it comes down to it im gonna pick the game thats gonna play better, but hey forza comes out this month and GT 5 since its japan in march might not be till fall for the US so hey why not just get both and be happy... Im just afraid of GT's AI i mean before it was terrible, all the cars raced on a damn set line they really didnt think for themselves, and ign and a couple podcasts were talking about how the demo had crappy AI as well so i guess we will see...... but its a racing game guys why not wait till both are out and then compare the one thing that actually matters...... the driving experience, and really PC sims still are superior in that area

I'm commenting on this so I can use this thread in the future since it'll be in my comment history.

The detail on the ground around the backside of the car is better in F3.
But just look a little further down the road (co*kpit view for example). The details vanish in F3. Just like in Halo 3 I saw details pop up on doors etc when approaching them. Literally they pop up. It's laughable. Same with Halo on xbox. If you back up even 1-2 meters the details vanish in Halo. I've never seen it so clearly on any other platform than the xbox family.

Forza is going to be a 2 disc game and in order to play the game to the fullest, you have to do a mandatory install from the 2nd disc on a HDD and not every 360 owner has a HDD. HD DVDs are really holding this generation back and Forza probably could've been more if it had more disc space.
