IGN writes: "That's probably not an argument you'd want to get into, though, because if you find yourself in a debate about which version of Altered Beast to buy, then you've already made the mental mistake of deciding to buy Altered Beast -- which you shouldn't, in any form. There will be those who happily spend their 10 dollars to own this one again, remembering what it was like dropping quarters into it 20 years ago in their hometown arcade. Wanting to relive, again, the clunky combat, over-the-top transformations and poorly digitized voice clips saying "welcome to your doom."
Let those people have whatever fun they might be able to wring out of beating this dead horse one more time. If you're not an incredibly diehard nostalgic fan, though, just join me in hoping that, after this 178th reissue, Altered Beast will finally just lay down, die, and stay dead".
