Weird since they have DK in Smash Brothers. But maybe Nintendo owns DK and not Rare while Rare owns Conker and Banjo.

well that's what rare gets for jumping ship at the height of their fame, the same way that it has served square enix in sales for their betrayal of their fan base

I didn't know that, I always thought that rare was a third party but had exclusivity deals with nintendo, but went to M.S...

Nintendo only owned 49% of Rare, the owners of 51% of Rare sold that to Microsoft. What happened behind doors, who knows... my bet is that they wanted to get off the Nintendo boat and offered Nintendo the full 100%; Nintendo probably said no so they offered Microsoft, which was probably a bad business practice against Nintendo (as they could have sold it to a 3rd party publisher instead of a competitor), but oh well, business is business.

In the end both Rare and Nintendo ended up sucking anyway.

I would main Conker in SSB no matter how bad he was... I like him that much.

It's too bad that Rare games aren't as good as they were back during the N64 days, but I still think they're a quality dev team that will put out a great game sometime soon... I hope.

7 - what happened to rare?
I used to look up to this company i tought they were the best especially for super nintendo and then the nintendo 64. donkey kong, and of course my all time favorite next to mortal kombat, KILLER INSTINCT, i wish they would remake killer instinct 1 & 2 with updated graphics.

rare lost a lot of good developers. the owner sold 51% to microsoft. so it definitely be hard for rare to make games for both competitors micosoft and nintendo. i suppose nintendo just sold rare and also microsoft offer the money to nintendo too.
i admit rare was good in the past but not so much now
