I wouldn't wish for no ground game at all, personally. The bits in a tank were always fun and I recall a level in a submarine in at least one game that was pretty cool as well. It's the no-vehicle sections that sort of suck. Starfox 'Cube (not the abysmal Zelda clone) was loaded with them and they really took a lot away from what could have been a great game.

6 - I beg
that they make it as memorable and good as Starfox 64. One of my first games I owned when I had the N64. Good ol days...peppy with his advising, falco with his pride and the annoying slippy.

Slippy is my #1 most annoying character ever. Hated him since I was a kid. He's worse than Jar Jar Binks, imo.

Edit: I think in Starfox Assault he had taken a desk job so you only had to put up with him during cut scenes.

Not a chance. The SNES game was a lot of fun at the time, but it just doesn't hold up anymore. I can still go back and play Starfox 64 and have a great time with it. Original Starfox is near unplayable by a modern standard.

Starfox SNES was a great idea, but they just couldn't realize it at the time. Starfox 64 pretty much perfected the formula.

Edit: Same goes for Mario Kart. F-Zero and any other SNES game where they tried to push that old hardware to do 3d stuff. It was fun at the time, but in retrospect they were just asking to much of the poor SNES.

i think the snes and 64 versions are equal to each other. Both are a blast to play but i prefer the snes version based on nostalgia.

I was also part of the minority in absolutely loving starfox adventures. I know most people hated it because it wasn't a flying game but i knew that going into it and the game was awesome, even if it was basically just a zelda clone. Also, it sports some of the best graphics on the gamecube. Absolutely top notch.

6.7 - @sidar
The equation is more like SNES IS less than or equal to N64fox . Let's face it N64 was a massive all around improvement to the formula. Though I agree the first took many hours from my life. I got a medal on every damn level when I was 13. Good times... but not half as good as doing the same thing on the N64 title... it's the game that introduced the rumblepack after all. I used to rail through the hard mode with the matrix soundtrack on and because they almost matched up... there was a few parts where the song would change right with the levels.

Im with ya.

@shnazz
Yes the N64 offered so much more, but i just cant help it.
Its not a nostalgia thing. Both of them feel different.
And to this day i still think the Snes version is just more fun than the N64 version.

I cant say what it is, but i can definitely say the music on the Snes was tons more awesome( not saying the n64 one had bad music)

I had ones for Banjo Kazooe, Jet Force Jemini, and Donkey Kong 64.

ha, thats awesome.

i had a n64 promo video before the system was out. It showed a guy wearing some weird mocap gear jumping into walls, like in mario 64 and it showed games that were in development that never came out, one being kirbys air ride, which made it way to the gamecube, but that game blows. I think it also had footage of zelda 64 DD.

im sure the video is on youtube somewhere, i wanna watch it again.

If the rumors are true about Retro making the next Starfox, then it'd be for a console, not a handheld.

I so hope this is for the Wii. I would love to see a four player co-op game. I so would love to play with three other friends and we all get to take part in the story mode together. I think that would be pretty cool. I think it would be great if Nintendo could allow 32 players to fight in a dog mode in online battles. I that would be great.

I also would love to see Nintendo put in Star Fox 2 the game as a pack in. I have wanted to play that game for the longest time. To think the game is even finished makes me sad. Because I can't play it. I would even pay for it on the Wii Shop channel if that is the only way Nintendo can bring that game out.

I really can't wait to see another Star Fox game. Because they are fun games and I really think Star Fox could be an incredible game on the Wii.

Think this could be one of those two Factor 5 Wii projects rumored to be near completion? I know the popular opinion is that they are working on Pilotwings and (maybe) a new Rogue Squadron, but having a company renowned for their space flight games work on Nintendo's biggest space flight franchise makes considerable sense. Hell, Arwings are basically X-Wings. This seems like a no brainer to me.

(But then again it could be Retro or one of Nintendo's other internal studios.)
