Yep, that list pretty much covers it. Miyamoto's imagination encompasses this, but I think "location, location, location" is probably the biggest deal with SMG. Even Mario needs a break from the Mushroom Kingdom every now and again.

Galaxy set a ridiculously high standard for Wii games. Like Super Mario World and Super Mario 64, before it, it's proof the main series of Mario games delivers.

Nonsense.This like the Wii totally fails to live up to the hype.I've played most of it for my son.After an Edge 10 and many top awards I expected something exceptional.It's really not brillant.I'd give it a 7/10.The camera is a dog,mario seems to vary his jump distance on a whim,the graphics are not great(but I will say that I hate the Mario look/art design and always have).I understand most of you will disagree but heh that's life.I preferred Rachet by miles in everyway and the worst thing for Wii is that The game would be improved by standard controls(and camera stick).
To clarify,I don't HATE the game(7/10 is good)but no classic.I think nostalgia and an eagerness to love Miyamoto stuff really clouds any level headed analysis of this game.Even Wii music got some 9s and 10s and that was truly terrible.

Gotta say I just didn't feel it with the game. The controls were loose and imprecise and camera angles at times were just messed up. It had imagination but the gameplay just felt wrong to me.

On the outside it looks like your simple kiddie game, but after playing it for hours and getting hooked you'll find that this game is truly hard as hell. I have yet to get all 256 stars and don't know anyone who has. I still play SMG almost religiously, and haven't gotten all of the stars yet.

Hopefully, i finish this game before SMG2 drops in 2010.

While a fantastic game at its core, I actually was a little disappointed in some of the ways that Galaxy extended its gameplay without programing actual game content. Racing a clone of yourself, or getting a star under a one-hit-and-you're-dead rule were kind of lame.

Anyone else feel that way? Either way, it's still a great game.

i know why most hardcore gamers dont like the game, becaus mario isnt holding an ak47 and shooting goombas between the eyes and its not a bloody FPS. but in all seriousness i'll give you on good reason why SMG2 will shine YOH! YOH! YOSHI!

Yeah I'd love to play Mario Galaxy but I refuse to buy a Wii just to do it. I'd actually love to see Nintendo actually do something new and actually DECENT for the HARDCORE Nintendo fans (who are more than likely either dead or went to the PS3/360. *like myself*). Instead of just getting Gamecube games and selling them over and over again i.e. Metroid Series.....
