Why the Resident Evil 4 style wasn't chosen for Darkside Chronicles

By the time winter passes by, the Wii will have seen the release of two Resident Evil games: Umbrella Chronicles and The Darkside Chronicles. However, Capcom chose to develop both games on-rails instead of as third-person shooters.

It has to do with an on rail shooter being able to get developed a lot faster and less cost efficient. No point in taking risks with hard core titles if they're Wii exclusive.

Definitely true that they're probably doing DC on rails because it's cheaper.

But it's not that big a "risk" to do an RE4-esque title on Wii. One has already sold quite well.

And since the game engine is already in place and wouldn't cost nearly as much to make as RE5 did, the only thing I can think of is penny pinching on Capcom's part.

No offence but if resident evil 4 did really well, ..why wouldnt something new and similar to it not be successful as well>>>? Because it's exclusive to the wii ??

lol now thats something to laugh at.

Its so werid seeing people with common sence on here. I mean its comparable to an Eclipse, they are so rare but when you see one it truly is amazing.

Perhaps because capcom saw yet another opportunity to not have to write new, original storylines. Also it must be very easy to slap together a rails shooter. I think it was one of those two reasons. That is why I will rent UC 2 and buy Tatsunoko vs Capcom as well as monster Hunter 3.

Hopefully then capcom will stop their relentless rape of The resident Evil Franchise. I think their using all their original zombie ideas for Dead Rising.... The HD console versions of course.
