Koku Gamer: California Games Video Review

Koku Gamer writes: "Released by Epyx for the Commodore 64 and now available on the Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console, California Games is a collection of six sports mini-games that players compete in for a high score. Players can choose from half-pipe, freestyle foot bag, surfing, Frisbee, roller skating and BMX racing. Think of it like a precursor to Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort. Extremely popular for its time, California Games was eventually ported to multiple platforms including the Atari ST, Sega Master System, Apple II, Amiga and the original Nintendo Entertainment System. It's popularity on the NES also made it the focus of an episode of everyone's favorite Saturday morning cartoon, Captain N: The Game Master."

These types of games were very fun 15-20 years ago, but now they don't offer the same type of excitement as they did back than. I think the Virtual Console has so many games that you can enjoy, they've gone with some terrible titles.

6 - Review Is Good. Game Is Just OK.
I enjoyed the review but like the guy said, "It's mostly for people who like party games."

That and I don't see too many kids getting into it because of the old school graphics and gameplay. "But it's not Halo 3!" they'll exclaim.

to catch the frisby you have to control the partner. start running out before the frisby gets to you. you you catch it standing up you'll spin it on your finger, but ou can press a button to dive for it too. seems he didnt know how to jump in the bmx and skating game.

8 - There goes my adolescence!!!
Man...this takes me WAY back. I used to have Cali games, Winter games, World games, and both Summer games. Man, I spent many an hour trying to set and beat records on those things. My favorite sport on this one was the surfing. That was just pure entertainment!!! *LOL* Mindless enjoyment for all!!!
