The Conduit: A Drudge From The Past (Siliconera Review)

Siliconera writes:

"The Conduit is High Voltage Software's contribution to the FPS genre on the Wii. It starts off with a convoluted government conspiracy plot that takes itself way too seriously. Never one to pay attention to plot in an FPS, I just skipped through most of the voice-overs so I could get right into shooting crap up.

It took a rough couple of minutes as I grew accustomed to the controls. The analog stick of the nunchuck is used for movements like strafing, while the wiimote's movements are used for aiming and turning. I had to tweak the sensitivities a bit to feel comfortable. It ended up being a hybrid between an FPS and light-gun game. This way, small movements with the wiimote would move the crosshair around the screen while larger movements resulted in turning. I also switched the mapping of the default zoom and crouch buttons."

1 - Is this a joke?
I sear, companies are reviewing the conduit poorly just to show their hate towards the wii. if any of these reviews where honest, the game would be at least an 8 average

What is funny is they compare this game to quake 3. Not even UT gets compare to quake 3 and that is the sole reason why epic made it to beat quake 3.

No one bought UT3 on the PC because we bought games that where closer to quake 3, faster and more centered on game play rather than art and tech.

You do get the same feeling quake some times since this is the first pure FPSs on this system and that game play is actually pretty deep once you meet up with some good players. Yet games like that usually have really older players playing. Hell I still play quake 3 and it is still number one on my list of FPS every thing else is mostly graphical fluff but no one got FPS's online game play more right than quake 3.

The conduit does this on the Wii and proves how well this controller set up actually works. This game is not for the casual core though. It is for serious hardcore FPS fans that love a good challenge while trying to control a map.

This is why I keep saying the current vocal hardcore are the ones that are not truly invested in gaming. They are here for the pretty graphics yet want to bypass the game. Just ask around and you will see not many people can even beat metroid prime 3 it is that hard. Yet beatable....

I guess the question is what happens if this game had the story mode of metroid and the online of conduit? Some one should make that happen! Retro is free HVS should call them up! Ubisoft did!

Damn, a few things here.

1) Prime 3 is/was a masterpiece and hypermode really was not for the weak of heart.

2) Oh $hit, you done off and got me hyped at the possibilities of a Prime 3 like Masterpiece, with he awesomeness of Conduits Online mode, that would be gaming nirvana.

3) The Conduit is definitely a gamers game..and I'm loving it. When we gonna hook up online again? I hope we end up on the same team at least ONCE..lol though I know it musta been a blast nailing me with a head shot..cuz it felt damn good sniping you with the same!:)

I have to get some sleep but I was just playing Quake 3 and every one showed up! I think I'll be on TC tomorrow... though it is pretty fun fighting with and against you guys. try making your bounding box as small as you can! it did wonders for me since I like fast aiming.

Prime 3 is a lot to live up to. It was the first FPS/FPA to really nail the controls on Wii, and Retro's art team might be the best in the business (just pop in the original Prime and look how well it has aged). I think that might be why Conduit is getting some lower scores.

(Plus, HVS' between-mission story scenes are downright archaic.)

I beat Corruption, but Conduit's online is INSANE. You have to have a small bounding box and melee set to a button press, or else you're toast. I finally got over 30 kills in a free for all today, but it was a real chore.
