AoC 360 Version "Still Being Worked On"

The Xbox 360 version of Age of Conan is still being developed despite delays, the game director revealed earlier.

While speaking to IncGamers, Craig Morrison explained that the console version of the popular MMO is still in the works, but has taken a little longer than first anticipated.

1.1 - Come on folks...
Let's be real here. This game is never coming out for our 360's. What will it take to make people realize that this game is vaporware? Maybe they need to name it" Age of Conan: Forever" just to give us all another hint?

1.2 - Honestly, I wouldn't get it
I thought AoC was slightly disappointing. Maybe I wasn't playing the game "right" or something, but I found more fun going back to my high lvl raids in WoW. Atleast its not like StarWars Galaxy...hey ...I'll be an ENTERTAINER...wtf?...anyway. AoC is a good game, just doesn't suit my fancy.

FF did it ok with an MMO on console. Think this can be a really cool idea.

Heh. "A little longer than anticipated." I don't think it was meant to be a simultaneous launch or anything, but it's still been quite some time since AoC came out.

I think AoC will port well with their action style combat

I wonder if it will ever come out, I mean, how long do average MMOs last these days now?

Crazy price? 30p a day to play WoW - that's nothing. 30p for potentially hours of gameplay, I don't know what people complain about.

I'd actually pay more. Not that I'd like it, but I would.

Yeah, it's about time someone found out what the heck is going on here. Why has it not been released? because Funcom can't afford to do it. If AoC was successful at launch, it would have meant that they could have released it on 360.

Age of Conan was successful at launch like many MMO's, it started to fade afterwards but is now apparently on the rise again. The problem is the XBL infrastructure among other things, it needs tweaking to work with MMOs and now apparently Microsoft has a deal on the table.

“There's a small team working on getting the technology working on the Xbox platform. I think it’s safe to say that the technical challenges in this area have turned out to be greater than we originally envisioned, so there isn’t any update there at the moment, but it is still being worked on.“

paying ~$15 a month to play these games always seemed foolish to me

i've tried free trials of just about every mmo out there and none of them have grabbed me enough to pay

You pay monthly because MMOs are constantly being updated.

These games are expensive to maintain, if you don't want to pay for them, don't play them. Also Age Of Conan did many new things with combat in MMOs. It seems to me you just don't like these styles of games, but when it comes down to it, most people who play MMOs pay monthly fees for them so obviously $15 a month isn't a big deal to most people.

There also exists the Guild Wars model though, and so far it has seemingly worked. I am more favorable towards this model: pay a one time price when you first buy it (i.e. $50) and for each expansion you pay $50 as what has been the case for Guild War's expansions. Then, they conduct a few micro-transactions. This way, you can leave the game and come back anytime without having to deal with the monthly subscription hassle. Minor and major updates are also free. I don't know why more developers are not utilizing this model. It seems to integrate the best aspects of the different payment models and provide a game that has lasting appeal.

Also, this type of model would work perfectly with consoles given the one time fee and micro-transactions.

why go through the effort of porting this to 360 when everyone knows all we want is The Old Republic? or even WoW?

To put it in perspective, a theatre ticket costs about $12 and lasts you what 3 hours maximum? , a $15 subscription lets you play for an entire month anytime, for as long as you want, you do the math.

Of course, not all games are worthy of the fee, but thats up to the individual to decide.

Personally, I think AoC is worthy of the fee because I've played it before, and it is not a bad game at all

Yep it is not a bad game at all, the updates are good and the population in the rise instead of competitors like WAR which is falling fast.
