Bite Me - A Zombitic Investigation: Hunger Or Propagation Of The Species?

OXCGN:

"I lay no claim to bravery; quite the opposite in fact. I'm more than likely to have a yellow belly and a boneless back. I hide when it's stormy, and jump when someone says boo while I'm playing Dead Space with the speakers turned up.

I will say this though; I love me a good zombie.

Whether I'm watching the latest Romero flick, reading poorly written stories of the undead online or kicking back with a shotgun and laying waste to a few choice Hunters in Left 4 Dead, I love a good stumbling, bumbling, and flesh eating ghoulie.

But something has been bothering me about my decrepit friends as of late."

MMMMMMM brains....or wipe them out...all of them.

I think it's more about a crazed viral imperative like Resident Evil or work like the RAGE virus where they die off if they run out of human food?

In any case slow or fast they sure are great in games!

2 - Well written article
I had noticed in Resident Evil 5 early on you do see some dead deer, but they're barely eaten. Maybe zombies are fussy eaters? They only seem to take enough of a bite to kill something then move on.

Haha! Cool article... really dug an explanation I can use for the continous onslaught coming in this year's releases... and next year's (Dead Rising 2!). :D

You have to admit, that zombies in games are fun . . but, the definition of one is somewhat obscure really.

The walking dead would classify as zombies, but those in infected with a virus would not be, as they are not dead per-se.

Plus in Vodo the term relates to those who are not actually dead, but taken over by "something" un-human . . hmmm.

Either way, dead, or alive, some games without zombies would be boring. Then again, sticking zombies in games for the pure fact of attracting some odd attraction (cough COD 5 cough) does not a good game make.

Oh I don't know...I think the Nazi Zombie thing is a good addition to multiplayer.

I know it's not in keeping with the 'historic' feel, but multi is only about fragging others anyway...not much historical context anyway.

9 - Zombie animals that need to be in Left 4 Dead 2
- Snakes (crazy snakes trying to leap out and bite your brain)
- Wolves (a literal blood-curdling howl)
- Hamsters (I can't think of anything scarier than a hamster after your brains)
- Cats (they can be damn scary)
- Donkeys (because horses are too common)
- Sharks (as if they needed to be scarier)
- Stingrays (can you imagine those crazy mouths they have trying to bite you after paralyzing you with their tail sting?)
- The Cookie Monster (yes, from Sesame Street. He's a hungry bastard, only a matter of time until he snaps and decides cookies aren't enough for him anymore)

I can just imagine the sound he makes when you can't see him and as he approaches...

"Mmmmmm cookies, yum, yum, yum, yum... ahhh brain cookies yum yum yum yum yum..."

Will scare the crap out me!
