EA Boogies Onto Wii, Microphone Possibly Confirmed

EA has announced it's Montreal studio, which recently released SSX Blur, is working on a new game called Boogie in which gamers will essentially be creating music videos and will be in charge of both the dancing, like many music/rhythm games before it, and the singing.

From the press release:

""We're creating something new and different for gamers of all ages to enjoy; the complete party package where gamers can dance as well as sing," said Alain Tascan, Vice President and General Manager, EA Montreal. "Nintendo's Wii is an amazing console that really gives us a platform to be creative and to re-think traditional game development."

Boogie will have gamers dancing, singing and starring in their own music videos. Players can also choose and customize different characters in the game to best show off their dancing style and karaoke skills. With innovative gameplay that perfectly matches the unique Wii controls, Boogie is the ultimate videogame party package."

While the game seems like something many gamers would be very interested in, let's focus on the tidbit of news in that release that maybe shouldn't be. It seems like EA has unofficially confirmed that there will indeed be the much rumored microphone for the Nintendo Wii. Unless there is some mechanism on the Wii that can input voice already there certainly will be a microphone add-on for the Wii and it will be coming this year as Boogie is to be released later in 2007.
