The ad showed Tiger Woods swinging a Wii controller with characters from the game mirroring his movements. However, the footage was taken from the Xbox 360 version of the game, not the Wii."

The publisher's excuse for switching the footage: the Wii images wouldn't be of "broadcast quality."

In anything other than Wii Tennis I have to use Visine after 15 minutes of play on the thing.

Easy, with the Gamecube it stood on the quality of the game titles and the upgrade of its graphics, the games themselves had to be good. With a few exceptions all titles of the Wii games are based on the strength of the controller mech and the wii "experience".

More Wii's are sold on the idea of the family gaming experience rather then the gaming it self to be had on the Wii.

In many automobile races the cars are very closely matched. That isn't the case in this generation of gaming. But it still comes down not to the car, but how it is driven. In this case Stevie Wonder is behind the Wii Wheel.

That is the step back. The games they produce now are by and large just trash thrown onto the system and given some controller feature. But the fact is if the only thing that makes your game good is the control scheme then your game still sucks.

6 - The reason I bought a wii
When it came out was the ads tricking me into thinking when I move the guy on screen moves. Then when I got it it felt so cheap it was ridiculous, the movement was nowhere near 1 to 1. Liars tricking people into getting wiis... My friend who was a wii fanboy and always said de blob and other crap were more fun(because it's the typical argument from someone with no experience on a ps3) finally bought a ps3 and he said "I forgot what good games were like." Made me feel so happy.

Since most Wii games use the analog stick to move the movement is 1 to 1.. Sad that you want to comment on something that you have completely no knowledge of.. What exactly did you think the Wii remote used for movement? Magic? Not a single game relies on motion for movement beyond MKWii and that is only left to right.

The fact that you will never get that kind of gameplay with a normal controller even though it wasn't 1:1. A gamepad isn't even close to what redsteel did.

I'm not going to list all of the games that I thought would have good controls! I thought that there would be sword fighting awesomeness with the wii after seeing that it had swords, and their ads made me think so too but it just detects that you moved the controller and swings the sword in a set pattern, like if I had pressed A, and so far the motion controls for wii games have amounted to nothing more than a shakeable A button, except shooters since you can point the wii mote at what you want to shoot.

Talking about hurting advancement, which company has released consoles for 3 generations with the same controller for each system? Yeah that's very innovative, that's advancing the industry beyond measure. Whatta joke. Isn't every rumor mill talking about how sony and m$ are planning on releasing motion controllers? I mean gimme a break motion is the future, just like rumble before it, which Nintendo also pioneered. I don't know what's worse, the fact that some fool actually believes this crap about the Wii holding the industry back or the dozen goobers who actually agree with this nonsense.

And how in the hell can someone actualy think Nintendo woulda been better off following the gamecube model of chasing horsepower? Look at where the GC ended up. Much like where the Ps3 is now. 3rd place.

first of all gamecube games>>>wii games, dont care what place it came in.

The wii would be innovative if it actually had motion control, its more like a wiggle, u dont have to carry out any motion you just shake the controller, i had more fun using the six axis than wii motion.
Why should they change the PS controller when its fine to just add things to it, they added the dual analog sticks and motion control. And they added rumble after nintendo made the rumble pack. The controller is just fine, great precision, reliable, and great layout for any type of game.

And no I dont think the Wii is holding gaming back, that is a stupid assumption, but I dont think it is competing with the HD consoles. Its competing with the PS2, same graphics and they have a lot of the same multiplatform games.

It's the games. Hopefully in the near future nintendo will release some game that are actually worth playing more than 3 months. I'm not talking about the marios, the zeldas or the metroid primes. One of the biggest reason the wii gets hated on is because there aren't enough good games to play. the wiimote can only go so far and multiplatforms aren't comparable to the ones on the other systems.

The Wii is competing with the Ps2? seems to me ps3 is in more comp with the ps2 than the Wii is, seeing as how sales of the two sony consoles are more closely aligned. Yeah, I can now see why the Ps3 fanboy is the joke of many a website, they are as logically bankrupt as sony's gaming division is.

12.2 - Do you mind if I step in and answer?
1. I'm currently playing three games, two of which are on my Wii; Fire Emblem and Guitar Hero: World Tour. I'm also playing Soul Calibur 4 on my 360. The last game I bought was Guitar Hero for Wii.

2. The next game I'm going to buy is Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World. They say it isn't as good as the first, but it looks excellent none-the-less. After that, I'll be buying House of the Dead: Overkill in February, Madworld in March, and The Conduit in April. Oh, I'm getting the Pikmin remake in February as well. (These are just my Wii games. I have a 360 to support as well.)

3. Without a doubt, I'd put up No More Heroes as one of the best Wii games. Unfortunately, you probably haven't played it so you wouldn't know. Yeah, it's a hideous game. There's no denying it. But it's also one of the most fun and entertaining games I've ever played.

Lastly, the Wii isn't a money whoring machine because people genuinely have fun with it. There really is at least one game for anyone (whether you acknowledge that or not is your own problem). Also, it's home to one of the most amazing games ever created, Super Mario Galaxy. Yeah, it was easy, but it was also one of the only games that literally made me say, "Wow."

ok so sony fanboys are supposed to be logically bankrupted because they dont compare The PS3 with the Wii. Yet with your logic we should put sony against sony, thats brilliant.
The Wii has similar tech to the PS2, it shares multiplatform games with the ps2, its closer to the price range of the ps2, its not a HD console just like the ps2, and you still want to compare the wii to the ps3.
Why compare everything? nobody really compared crap last gen, maybe because there was no point, games are what matters. I could care less that the Gamecube came in 3rd I liked the games. Same goes for the ps2, it didnt make me like it more because it had the most units sold. I could care less what system wins I play them all but to say something is better because it sold more is stupid.

I am pretty sure he means because the Wii can't display in hd, having a commercial air in hd of Wii footage would go against the previously referred to law. This is still untrue and a poor argument. Non HD footage can be broadcast on HD channels and TV's. Non hd footage can even be placed within a HD commercial. It doesn't make the Wii footage shown magically HD and thus break regulations.

Sales wise you are absolutely correct. I have all three consoles between me and my fiance though and our 360 receives the most love from the two of us. Personally I think a console is worth owning if there are least a handful of good exclusives for it. As to which console is the best, IMO I think people should look past the sales figures of the hardware and look at the software sales. I know a lot of families who have purchased a Wii and have left it sitting for weeks without playing it. Then again, I'm sure for every one of those families I know there is someone here who is willing to post that they only play the Wii and do it daily so its all in your perspective. I think a great test would be to give people all 3 consoles and over a years time clock what system gets the most play time on it. That would be a really cool study.

Who care how many people bought some crap game on one hand you say you don't need the validation of the VGA's but you cling to sales numbers thinking if everyone is buying it it must be good.

Which is why I think software sales should be looked at instead of hardware sales. Lets see how successful a system is by how many people are buy games for it. I'm not even saying that would make the Wii not the #1 console. I just think that software sales figures give a better look at how a console is holding up then the hardware sales.

--On a side note, Nintendo makes a profit off of each console so the money a company profits aren't even a clear indication of how successful (according to my ideas of success) a console is.

Sony is no where NEAR Nintendo anywhere in the world and is now trailing 360 for the year, that's just in Hardware alone. Software wise its even worse for sony. Have you seen the software numbers in Japan for dec. 8-the 14? There is nothing in the top 10/11 that doesn't have the name Wii or DS on it.

The NPD Wii had what 6 of the top ten software? Its already been proven that Wii sells the most software..that goes hand in hand with the most hardware. PS2 sold the most hardware last gen, naturally it also sold the most software also.

360 had a year head start..and Wii has not only surpassed its hardware lead but leads in software...that's really all there is to it. And this is without the kind of quality support it will be getting in the future. Dice it any way you want to my man, Wii is top dog this gen, and has won the console war.

If you look at this data, you will see in America that the 360 is right behind the Wii in software sales for the year of 2008.

However in 2007 the 360 was the top for software sales.

Even though the Wii sold more hardware both years, if you start adding up the total amount of software sold for each console since its release and average it out to how many games the average consumer has bought per console, I think you will start to see some interesting data. This is why I think a consoles success should be based on its software sales and not it's hardware sales.
