Wii version of Rock Band 2 officially dated

CAMBRIDGE, MA – December 12, 2008 – Harmonix, the world's premier music video game development company, and MTV Games, a part of Viacom's MTV Networks (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B), along with distribution partner Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS), today announced that Rock Band® 2 for the Wii home videogame console from Nintendo and PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system will ship to stores nationwide December 18, 2008.

Rock Band 2 for the Wii system, developed by Pi Studios under the direction of Harmonix, will be fully featured with online modes including World Tour and Battle of the Bands, an innovative character creator, weekly downloadable content and more! With more than 100 songs on the Rock Band 2 Wii soundtrack and an ongoing weekly offering of downloadable tracks available for purchase, Rock Band 2 Wii owners will have access to the most impressive music catalogue for a music-based videogame on the console.

The Rock Band 2 game disc will feature 84 tracks. In addition, players will have access to an additional 20 free DLC tracks following the game's launch. Online connection required. The 20 free DLC tracks are not available for the PlayStation 2 version of the game.

Rock Band 2 DLC tracks for Wii are available through the in-game Rock Band Music Store only. Wii points must be purchased outside the game through the Wii Shop Channel. Online connection required. An SD card can be used for additional storage of Rock Band track downloads.

ill get a rockband game when harmonix stops treating wii owners like 2nd class citizens if your looking into this i really suggest guitar hero world tour they tried to get the best out of the wii and did great not to sound like a guitar hero fan loosing interest as is but world tour on wii is a better buy than this

Yes I agree. Wii owners should stay away from this game and just buy tons of GHWT.. If the RB developer is too stupid to figure out why and they delay it again next year then they just wont ever see any sales. Sadly though it probably will sale very well because most people dont even tihnk about those kinds of things. The first RB sold very well on Wii considering it was an extremely gimped version that came almost 6 months later.
