its definitely better than Mario 2! They even admit Mario 2 is panned:

"The amount of unnecessary controversy surrounding Super Mario Brothers 2 is unprecedented. If you hear someone complaining about a Super Mario Brothers game it’s probably Mario 2 because its not like Mario 1 or 3, which are supposed to be the “authentic” Marios. Looking back, and playing through Super Mario All Stars though, Mario 2 comes as a treat, with its completely different game playing style and colourful imagery."

Yeah, even though my list is different, I can agree with everyone's lists. Too many awesome Mario games and I think a lot of people have forgotten that because of some of the shovelware with Mario's face on it.

Its great to see ppl arguing over which mario game is the best (coz that is a reallly tough task to do). This is something i dont mind ppl arguing about because each mario game has done different things for different ppl.

Im sure every1 here has great memories of playing a mario game for the first time, or the first time they finished a mario game. The range of gameplay elements that have been brought to the table are unmatched, with every differnt title soemthing new is always added to the way the game is played.

P.S i noticed no1 is arguing that Sunshine should be in the list lol

9 - I think what this list shows
Is how many great Mario games there have been through the years. No ones list is going to be the same, and that's a testament to the quality Mario games (main ones) have.

For me I liked 3, but I had mroe fun playing world, super mario all-stars was great, the transition to 3-d changed many things, and I sometimes feel I have to seperate the best mario games by their dimension, like best 2-d mario is vs best 3-d Mario is

I also put myself back into the moment of when I first played these games. That is why for me I think Mario 64 was better than galaxy, even though galaxy perfected alot of the minor problems 64 had. I think World is better than 3, but in all honesty I can't make a list like this, the main games have all been classics.
