Study: Wii Controls Don't Induce Violence

A recent study at Villanova University shows that games using motion control don't influence the aggression in players any more than standard controls do. Dr. Patrick Markey examined individuals playing Manhunt 2 and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2008 (otherwise known as the only AO Wii game in existence).

1 - Pretty interesting...
The doctor used the most violent game (and only AO rated one on Wii) for the test, and it still had no affect on people.

What's interesting to me is that they're specifically trying to measure the influence Wii controls have, but they don't sample it against non-Wii controls (360/PS3), or even better the Wii version of a game where you can use a GameCube or Classic controller optionally. That seems like it would have been a more accurate and conclusive comparison.

2 - refreshing for once
I have to admit, its rather refreshing to see a mainstream report that doesn't come to the conclusion that video games create mass murders. It seems like every time a teen creates a crime, the games he likes to play are included in the title.

Like seriously.

2.1 - Well remember
Well remember this was specifically to see if Wii motion controls had a greater impact than traditional controls, so it wasn't the standard question of whether or not video games = violence in the streets of your hometown.

2.2 - @IanCube
I think this is a step in the right direction, though. I think logic will tell most readers of the study that if more "immersive" controls aren't doing any damage, neither will pushing buttons.
