1 - I really enjoyed the first game
I really hope that the second will just be a more polished version of the first.

R.I.P McRae

I didn't think they could carry on with his name seeing that he died this year. Not saying they shouldn't, just didn't think they would.

Colin Steele McRae, MBE (5 August 1968 – 15 September 2007)

Just a small correction, but I agree with the name carrying on thing.

Looks great just like the last one.

If they fix the controls it might be interesting. The last one felt like driving trolleys.

Tip to Codemasters: Play Rallisport Challenge 2 by DICE. That's how you make rally games ;)

According to the producer interviewed by IGN, they consulted the family first.

If permission was not granted. But I think the family was consulted with Codemasters first. They might feel (or be) proud that his named is carried on and not forgotton by his fans in real life and within this series of racing in video games.

They should keep the name. That way people will remember this rally champion.

Yeah I am glad they are still using the McRae name, he has a reputation around the globe for being the most amazingly aggressive and entertaining driver on the circuit and I hope that the name is still used in the future too so it becomes even more synonymous with rally games. A man who was one of the most respected and competitive sportsmen out there should live on forever. If there is some sort of obituary to Colin in the game, I hope they also place one for the equally brilliant Richard Burns whose life was also cut short. Markko Martins co-driver too IMO.

If I were his family, I would be very proud of the achievements Colin made in his life and be delighted that his legacy is such that it can be used after his death; I am sure they are. Think of it like this, if John Madden died, do you think EA would change the name? The brand lives on and so will the memory.

RIP Colin, gone but not forgotten.

5 - Good series!!
I really like the engine Codemasters use for Dirt & Grid. It's still good that they using Collin's name within the title. But change the multiplayer, please!!! LOL!!

R.I.P. Collin!!

it was almost as though the car did not weigh anything.

you could not even do the scandanavian flick because of very poor physics.

it looked great but it was letdown by bad physics, grid had the same problem.

EDIT: wtf? i clicked reply to steve30x below.

Dirt and grid game play was good but the car physics and controls were way off

9 - Xbox/PS2 Colin Mcrae titles are better than DIRT!
The physics in DIRT is awful, yes it looked nice, but Codemasters should start from scratch on how a rally/off road car REALLY handles. The old Xbox/PS2 Colin Mcrae games were awesome for its time, the developers have taken step backwards! Its because they want to appeal to a more mass casual market so they sell more.
GRID, even with its more 'realistic' settings on still felt too arcade like. Just go the Gran Turismo 5P route, strive for absolute realism, but be flexible enough to dumb down the handling difficulty for less skilled gamers. The braking in Dirt is a joke, almost instantly braking to a stop from high speed on any surface.
Will be interesting in what Codemasters do with Dirt2 and hopefully have British voice overs, not American, it doesnt suit a British born game.

dirt was there first try with a new console/engine. and i think they did a great job, even grid was great. i like what there doing, as much as i liked toca motor sports 2-3, i love how they split the games to make them that much better. and now adays casual gamers seem to rule the market so its going to stay that way. you want a sim go to the PC.

*and im talking a real sim, GT5 is great, but is only a partial sim, im talking a real sim with every little detail.*
