I agree with you to a point, I'd say that all of their current gen attempts have not been that great at all, such as infinite undiscovery and from the looks of it Last Remnant as well.

The first video is downright embarrassing with all of the slowdown and texture/object pop-in. I just don't think they have a handle on either console that well yet, except for portable consoles.

I really hope square proves me wrong next year, Star Ocean looks great for you 360 guys next year, wish Square would throw PS3 some love, but i will have WKC which makes me pretty happy.

@GAFFYH BELOW: I agree with you there, though it really doesnt take much to do better than Infinite Undiscovery.

Don't forget, The Last Remnant (360) isn't delay in the US for the PS3 version. But, FFXIII (PS3) will be delayed in the US for the 360 version.

So 360 games don't have to wait for the PS3 but PS3 has to wait for the 360 in the US. I smell favorite.

Not all, but lately there aren't great games as they used to make.
I enjoyed Crisis Core although it was rape on FF7 in some places, I love FF12 even though most people don't. But yeah, Square games lack the quality that they used to have. Also some marketing moves they made didn't fix my loyalty for the company.
It's a company, they make money, I don't blame them but I also I don't wanna buy half-a$$ed games.

@UltimateIdiot911: Maybe I'm naive, but I still hope they won't delay FF13 to release it with X version.

The only things that make money for SE now is PSP spin-offs and DS remakes only in Japan.They don't know how to make money on the PS3,360 or the Wii because each console has its own strategy and preferences but Square Enix is just trippin' on their own shoelaces with their decisions like Closed Theaters,delays,and lack of info

That said, I am still gonna go out and get The Last Remnant by trading in Call of Duty: WaW.

That way, I may actually enjoy a decent game out of it (Remember children, the keyword for today is "may") and Square Enix don't get money.

It's a win-win situation.

I completely agree with you on that one just like many of your other comments.However one thing we all to realize is that neither the 360,the Wii or the PS3 is the true gold mine for Square Enix.For example if they truly preferred the 360,why is FFXIII Versus still not announced for it? How come SE wont bring FFXIII to 360 in Japan knowing full well that could end this console war at once for the PS3? The Wii is the biggest console in Japan yet SE makes a cheap spin offs like Dragon Quest Swords and Final Fantasy Chocobos just to reap profit from the name.I have no idea when Crystal Chronicles is getting released for Wii even though SE announced it 2 years ago.How hard is it to make a Wii game that isn't littered with mini games?

The only true profit maker is the DS.On the release of the remade Dragon Quest 4 for DS,over a million cartridges were sold and millions were made on a SNES re-released game.I would love to see Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy game on any next gen console but SE is like a sloth and barely works at it.The only game I'm looking forward to from SE now is Star Ocean 4 and Final Fantasy XIII Agito for PSP.

I agree that the DS remakes and much-cheaper-to-make handheld games are the best way for Squenix to make a profit, and they are being smart about that. What the problem is, is that Squenix has yet to make a truly great game. Dragon Quest 8 was a great game, but they just published it, they didn't make it. FFXII was good, but not great. None of their next-gen games so far have been near "great."

Squaresoft and Enix made a lot of great games when they were separate companies, but have now reached a point where I, personally, expect mediocrity from Squenix, and expect greatness from other companies, such as Level-5 (the new Squaresoft). Until they can match games like FF4, FF6-10, FFT, Xenogears, Chrono Trigger/Cross, Star Ocean 2, etc., I will keep those expectations low, and hope for the best.

Regardless of what all you business majors think, you can care about the money and still put your heart into making a game worth having your name on. Squenix is purely about the money and only release safe games with a formula created by their former, better selves. What's even worse is that a lot of those former greats still work at Squenix, but have just lost a lot of...drive, I guess is the word, along the way. Resting on your laurels will eventually mean you are just sleeping on a dead plant.

It was the first game I ever imported, and is in my top 5 favorite ps1 games, and that's saying a lot, especially considering all the epics Squaresoft released for the ps1. Thankfully I had an original, release day ps1, so I could just disc-swap to play imports.

Tobal No.1 was a fun game as well, but I remember the only reason I bought it was for the FFVII demo. I'm glad I did, though.

It's pretty obvious. Back then they had nothing to go on other than knowing that Playstation had formally dominated Nintendo, Microsoft and Sega. Now that they've got 5 million less than the 360 and thus have sold the least Square clearly took note. When pretty much every multiplat title sells more on the 360 it knows it'll be missing out on a huge amount of sales...like Halo 3 has sold twice as many as MGS4 (and altho I haven't played it, I'm pretty sure MGS4 is better). GTA 4 sold a few million more on the 360. They just wanna make money from it, and bring it to a bigger audience. It's a good thing cos they'll have more money for the next FF.

Whether you like it or not Omega, Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be a Playstation 3 exclusive.

If SquareEnix actually had plans of bringing Versus XIII to the 360 they probably would have announced it back at E3 along with the FFXIII announcement, at SquareEnix's event back in August, or at TGS.

Either way it's going to be a LONG while before FFXIII even hits the Xbox 360 seeing that they haven't even started development on it. And even if Versus XIII was announced for the 360, it would most likely come out a Year after the PS3 version.

Quite a few sites are saying FFvs will b coming 360's way. Square are probably waiting until FF13 is out, checking that the 360 version has dominated in sales (like with GTA) then will announce it's going to 360. I would've ended up having 2 get a PS3 for FF13, so them announcing it saved me a bundle. They said they were maximising the PS3 capabilities (as they always try 2 do with new hardware) and realised that they are basically the same as the 360. Just like every other dev. Gears 2 has the best graphics on a console yet, altho Killzone will probably look better, but considering that's 1 game and the PS3 was meant to be so powerful, devs are deciding to make them on both because it's always possible to port it to 360 (and make more sales)

Those sites wouldn't happen to be something like "xboxfanboys.com," "360gamerz.com," etc. would they? I have never seen any site claim such a thing unless it's in blog format, where they are just stating their opinion. Anyone hoping VS is going to come out for anything other than the ps3 should research who the director of the game is. The only way any other system is going to see VS is if they make a "FFVS: 24/7/365" DS or PSP version.
