totally agree. HL2 is still the pinnacle of the FPS genre. what i dont understand is why the camp fest that is CoD:4 is up at #2. BioShock was good, but doesnt deserve #3. if anything CS should be up higher. that game still has a rabid fanbase i do not think any other MP shooter will ever match.

I find it hard to put down the online play after 8-9 months playing. As for camping, it can happen in any FPS. Once your aware of it, it can be coped with.

3 - Good list but

Timesplitters 2 should be in there rather than future perfect. Thief is by no standards an FPS (and I enjoyed Thief 2 the most but hey). And Half-life 2 the best FPS ever? Possibly but if that's true it shows we have a long way to go especially in terms of story. It's weird to think that that list pretty much covered all my favourites - is that it for FPSs over the years?

The one thing I do miss in there though is Killzone. The art direction in the game was phenominal. The whole grainy look to make it look as if you were watching the actions and events unfold through an embedded camera reporter. Was one of my favorite shooters last gen. on consoles next to HALO.

12 - IMO, Doom II should have at least been in the top 3

DooM is the series that spearheaded the whole FPS genre that we know and love today, and was the series that gave rise to the many "DooM clones" of the mid to late nineties. Wolfenstein came before DooM, but DooM is really what made the genre popular. Hell, there are STILL people today that make WAD files in their spare time, as well as communities that are still dedicated to keeping the multiplayer aspect alive, as well as excellent modding.

I'd replace Call of Duty 4 with DooM II.

Edit: lol, whoever disagrees proves their n00b status when it comes to videogaming

As far as Game Pro's list goes, I didn't care for F.E.A.R. and I'm not much of a fan of HALO 3. I just recently tried the Bioshock demo for the PS3 and I didn't get what all the fuss was about. I'm hoping that Crysis comes to the PS3 because it looks fantastic.

Also I have to say that they have too many relics from the past on their list which have obviously been surpassed in terms of gameplay and graphics by alot of new shooters.

My most anticipated FPS games for this year are:

1. FarCry 2
2. Call of Duty: World at War
3. James Bond: Quantum of Solace

Killzone 2 should be dope killer aswell. Because I own a PS3, some people here might wonder why I didn't include Resistance 2 in my list of most anticipated games, and its because although I liked the single player part of the first Resistance, the online part was too chaotic and was a Halo style frag fest. The single player campaign was good, but doesn't leave me wanting more. In my opinion, compared to games like Cod4 or from what I have seen of Killzone 2, it just doesn't compare.

Thats only because we're talking about FPS games. Socom is the biggest reason why I prefer the Playstation. Then theres God of War which will be awesome and Infamous is looking great. Of course I can't forget about Metal Gear, thats a huge reason why I like Sony aswell.

I'm not a racing fan, so I don't care for Gran Turismo and I think MotorStorm was ok. Killzone 2 looks so much better then Resistance 2 , and with so many games comming out I really have to pick and choose what I'm going to spend my time playing.

The names on the list is pretty good. But Dues Ex is way too far up, the same can be said for System Shock 2. I think both should be top 10 candidates. I mean for goodness sake they have HL2 at number 1. They could surely put DE or SS2 in the top 10.

Red Neck Rampage. I know it wasn't a great fps, but I still had a lot of fun with this Fps. They should revive this series on consoles,cause I would luv to do some multiplayer fraggin. It would be cool if you could also create your own redneck for multiplayer. Imagine all the creativity in that. Just a thought.

Their was a Duke Nukum rip off long time ago. I think it was called Shadow Samurai. I remember their was a level where you heard farting and you would find a hot female taking a dump. She straight busted out an uzi and took you out with a quickness. That was a lot of fun.

Halo 3, seriously?

He has the balls to put Tribes 2 on the same list at a Halo game? That's bold...it really is. Halo ripped off Tribes SO BADLY! Halo 3 above masterpieces like Unreal Tournament, System Shock 2, Crysis, and F.E.A.R.??? What a joke.

Also, Half-life is good, but it's not the best thing ever created. Bioshock is much more intense and awe-inspiring. I love what Valve has created with the physics-based puzzles though.

The scenes with the G-Man, Dog helping you, and many others were quite epic, but not Bioshock epic.
