ape, funny I played SMG for about 8 stars then got bored. I haven't turned on the Wii since and it was free. My gf gave it to me because she wasn't playing it.

agreed. i should say I'm a Nintendo child. i was born in the 1980s and bought every console up to and including the gamecube. the wii is a fad and they left people like me behind in pursuit of the almighty dollar. They have compromised everything that made them great. graphics suck and gameplay is non existent. I love Mario and i miss him, but i hold on to the hope that we will be reunited again. also, it is huge. i would love Nintendo to take a Sega-like role and release an incredible Mario game utilizing the ps3 or 360.

it is a better system. Just like in its own way the PS3 and 360 are better systems. Each has their own strengths and weaknesses. Absolutes on this matter are what's ridiculous.

The problem is rather that these " core" gamers promote Visuals in such a way that it almost seems like they are being biased over gameplay.
A game is automatically hyped just because of the visuals but at the same time they are ignoring the gameplay aspect.

Gameplay is being ignored in their comments, all you hear is how better ones shader is doing better than the other.

Therefore as a reaction people say that Graphics don't make a game fun. and thats maybe why you have the idea that people pretend that way.

We know damn well that physics and graphics can add up for gameplay, but if the gameplay itself sucks, there is no reason to talk about the graphics.
A good example was Lair, how it was gonna kill everything else, but then when people played it...the gfx suddenly werent the issue anymore.
If gameplay sucks graphics wnt matter sh/t.

To each his own, some claim PS3 is a better gaming console... others say 360...and it got nothing to do with thinking gfx or physics make gameplay bad.

The wiimote is not precise...and most of the wii games suck and have bad ratings.

Does the wii have anything close to little big planet? That game has everything, and it would not be possible to make that game on the wii. The controls would suck, and the online playability would not be possible. The 360 could possibly do it but Xbox live would not allow user generate content...so it is not possible there.

Once you get past wii sports...the wii experience is all over. Wii Resort will bring the wii experience back...but that is next year. There is nothing to get excited about the wii this year...

If you have to ask that then you've obviously not played the Wii enough to be so opinionated. Either that, or you're just a hater. What? Does everyone have to bow down to your personal choice of console for the world to be right with you?

There are plenty of games where the accuracy that the Wii remote does have is put to good use, and the immersion factor because of it is unmatched. Not to mention that the point and click function has been perfect since day one.

Every console has strengths and weaknesses indeed, but this don't mean that "in a way" one console is the best, but "in other way" it's the worst. Not in this case. As far as I know, they all have graphics (the VIDEO part in videogame), they all have an comands input (the GAME part in videogame), you can't drop one of those all together and said "this is the winner!".

If I say the PS3 is the best BD device, but crap interaction, then it is just a video device (DVD, BD, VHS, etc). If I say the Wii is the best interactive device but suck in graphics, then it's just a toy. (not saying those consoles are completely sucking on any point, just explaining why you can't really separate that on videogames).

Pretending a console can be great in one point alone and be the better console "in some case" is unreal, because it put aside all the down side that maybe is great in competition and making looks like the competition necessarily suck in the strength of the "winner" console. Like it or not, the "best console" is that that is great in all camps.

I really hate on Nintendo excuse that they choose to focus on controllers over graphics, like they/we can't have both, when they actually just ripped people off with the old Gamecube with a new controller. They could have great graphics with great gameplay and just to say it, even the gameplay isn't that great, don't work properly to many game genres.

Worst when they say they have the better experience because they have the best interaction... What, PS3 and 360 don't have any interaction at all? In a matter of fact they not only have it, but have one that work more properly in many genres. And what about the strong points of those other consoles? You just not considered it? So, if Wii is a 10 in interaction and PS3 and 360 are 9, don't matter the rest? What if the Wii is 7 in the other categories and PS3 and 360 get 10 all over the place?

That said. A console can be better FOR YOU. Because the points I consider important (gameplay, graphics, extra-features, size, energy consumption, whatever) maybe is irrelevant for you, or just less important, to the point a "mediocre" or "not great" eperience is enough.

So no, a I don't think a console can be better than other "in a way", he just maybe is better for you. There isn't a quality you can have analized alone, a single point of view, that can determine the "best" console.

More probably, consoles can't be "the best" at all, since it depends on someones taste and is basically a projection of human categorization, not a quality native for a pile of plastic and transistors.

But keep in mind that these "casual" gamers might never heard of a gamecube. From a marketing standpoint it wouldnt make sense to promote the GCN now while the Wii is out.

These new comers would be confused too...they know the Wii not the GCN.
Also this gives the titles a chance to come out of the shadow some games were really underrated.

Btw Wii supports GCN legacy....So how is a gamecube funner?
Wii brings more than the gamecube did...you lost me there.

only that sales have dipped to a point that Nintendo cannot sustain the amount of profit they've been making by 2011. The article doesn't infer that the Wii isn't the top selling console in Japan, only that the initial love-fest is over, only a few more spikes are left, and within 2 years, they'll have to upgrade in that market.
