But remember that Microsoft/Sony/Phillips/Apple all made consoles and some games but they were never originally game makers.Sony have always been TV/radio makers and Microsoft have always been software designers originally.

I acknowledge both Sony and Microsoft for working hard for their consoles but they were not making games until they became interested in what Sega/Atari/Nintendo created.

Nintendo made playing cards, owned a taxi service and "love hotels", along with several other failed ventures before getting into electronics. They may be one of the most important companies at the foundation of gaming, but it was far from the company's original purpose.

I'm a child of the NES/SNES/Sega Genesis. As such, I can't stand the new Nintendo. They've essentially spit in the face of the gamers who made them what they are today, all for the purpose of reaching the wallets of non-gamers. They've decided to become the Fisher Price of gaming, and it makes me throw up a little inside my mouth everytime someone from Nintendo says they still care about the core gamers.

First off nice of you to spin what was said by Reggie. He also brought up GTA when he talked about not leaving the hardcore. I guess its easier to lie and hope people hate then to be honest. Second point is to Ape. A game doesnt become a classic within a year. Classics are much older than most of the games you brought up.. Bioshock will be a classic in 10 years. not a year after release.

I must agree with xiphos above and say that I felt unappreciated as a gamer on Nintendo hardware. They keep saying they have not abandoned the hardcore gamer, yet there are no games in sight. My Wii get's the least use and I have more games for it than the PS3. My 360 get's the most use.

These 6-month development time games targeting the casual market is what Nintendo cares about despite whatever they say. I think Nintendo lost my business unless they turn around....

I think it's sad that we are even in the position where "not being forgotten about" is the best terms Nintendo can address their core fans with. They are not focused on making the kinds of games/features/advances that their core audience ,that have been supporting them for years and years, want from them. They seem to be focused instead on the highest profit margin and the lowest common denominator.

Say what you will about Sony and Microsoft (and they both certainly have faults as well) but they at least make a great attempt to advance the industry and please their core audience AND make games accessible to a larger demographic without compromising one for the other. I have a Wii, Ps3, and 360- and while I still love some of Nintendo's games I will not make excuses for their arrogance or greed. I don't trust their intentions anymore.

i dont know why people keep complaining about nintendo, sure i dont like any of the 1st party games for holiday 2008 except wario land, but that doesnt mean they are not making any more hardcore games or they havent delivered any... It actually takes time to make a game, and if they can release all those games stated above, all the casual one's and the tons of DS great games, then i can forgive them for not giving me a game for some months, thats why we rely now on 3rd party software, which is finally realizing what they can do with the wii.

you people dont mind waiting more than a year to finally start getting good games on the PS3, but if Nintendo doesnt release something in the next 6 months, then they have "abandoned the hardcore crowd"..... please ppl, enough with the stupid comments

if you read my comment (which you read what you want to read) you can see I named the typical Nintendo games. The zeldas and the Marios (and all the Nintendo staples). It was implied those are hardcore but won't be out for a while. But everyone knows there are coming out Next year. The complaints, which are valid by the way, stem from what happened at E3. Prior to E3 (months prior), Reggie said on that gametrailers special, they will reveal the rest of the 08 lineup and the core should be extremely happy. Since you don't like any of the first party games for the system, except wario land, you're what Nintendo is catering to. That's fine and all and I respect that. Nintendo found a cash cow and they have all the right to milk it. I have a wii and I think it's fun (when there are people around). But for you to say my comment is stupid for making a valid complaint is a bit disingenious. I mean I don't go around saying your comment is stupd, do I?

What Reggie said is that games would be announced around E3 and Core NItnendo gamers would be happy. They werent talking about followers for other consoles being happy. VC Was a common complaint before E3 and it got fixed but none of the other console followers seemed to notice. GTA was announced but it became casual the second it was announced for another console by the loyal followers of other consoles. COD was shown at E3, Madworld, Conduit, Punch Out got announced, I could go on, but to hear some of you talk nothing was shown but AC and Wii music.. That's not at all true though.

Anyway, I guess a lot of people were under the assumption that more new IP that caters to the "core" (emphasis added) would be presented. Wii music and wii surfing board stands out the most and that's why people were dissapointed. I think Nintendo's "core" is the casual market, so whatever works for them.

Then they go on and on about how the GCN sucked because it had no 3rd party support, and it depended only on 1st party games, but now on the wii, great 3rd party games are coming in the next couple of months instead of Nintendo IP's, and yet they bash nintendo for not releasing new games, then they say they are gonna sell the wii(that they dont have) because its been collecting dust since launch....

That's interesting. How many companies have made a nintendo system their lead platform? I mean nintendo games are moving consoles 3rd party games on other console have done what? Get the xbox to 2rd place even when it had a lead? Help the PS3 catch up with the xbox 360?

Nintendo is doing what a console maker should and that's getting boxes in peoples hands. most 3rd parties don't understand what is happening and the fanboy circling the wagons is making it hard to see what is going on. It's all pitch fork and torch talk yet they are the reason why nintendo was seen as a non-player last gen. Most of you guys claiming to be fans are just sheep wanting to be wolves. Either your mad at the success or frustrated with the current state of gaming.
If you are happy with it then why complain about nintendo? I never complained about stuff that did not have what I wanted to play IE HD consoles.

Well hey thanks to all your complaining the 3rd parties will start coming because they feel they have a chance this next few months and the HD stuff is still expensive to make.

The Wii offers nothing new of any true substance to gaming except for the controls. Which aren't really new Nintendo just got it right i guess. I don't find it just to pay US$250 for a console that offer no real online support and visuals that are on par with my basically unused Gamecube. The Wii has WiFi we all knew this but what does it really allow you to do right now? Check the weather wirelessly? Or you mean play Mario cart and the many other Wii games that have online support? Exactly it offers NOTHING new and doesn't Justify the price.

please i'm sure that porting a zelda from the gamecube for launching the wii didnt help right ? Nor the fact that the Wii has mostly shown GC level graphics didnt help neither releasing those games faster right ? Nor the fact that actually good titles asides , they are selling by millions a title like wii sport wich is basically the most technically challenging title of the market right ?

Thought only buying a handful of titles like mario kart , brawl , basically everything non shovelware from nintendo , I like my wii ... but there should be a limit to blind faith

I mean I have to ask how old some of your guys are. Nintendo has always been about E for every one games so that hardcore gamers and non gamers could pick the system up so that developers have more customers to choose from. J-gamer claims the Wii did not bring any to the table then what did the PS2? Yeah a dvd player, the Wii brought a new way to control your gamers and yes it's new because it works for gaming instead of being a gimmick like movie play back,etc. If Sony's PS2 was all about point and click game play then the DVD stuff wouldn't have been such a gimmick. The same gimmick did not work for this last system and no one cried about the PS2 horrible graphics.

This is not about being blind for the Wii owners this is about people simply hating the Wii and ignoring the good. Hey but if that what you need to do then good luck with that. So far nintendo is proving the industry is ripe for collapse. So many gamers are simply ignoring the good games and focusing on brands which is how all of your argument work. If you are not use to PC graphics then yes HD console are a breath of fresh air after all those PS2 years. As a Hardcore gamer that's not shackled to a brand I've played and even done some work on some of the games you raise on a pedestal. Yet even the makers of these games don't even like to play most of these games. Hd gaming or hardcore gaming needs to be returned to it's heights again. People no longer huddle around a in store kiosk excited to get a turn.

I think lots of people are hating on nintendo because their success proves the hardcore that are loyal are not enough to win the war. This has always been the case. Many people expected nintendo to become the next sega and lots of project are waiting to be announced for the console. Many new teams will make their names on this system because normal maps can not bail you out of a copy and paste game experience.

Most of you sound like drama queens though looking for attention. If you are going to damn the system then please explain why you leave out the hardcore games that you can't even beat? If you say you are not interested then why even come here and complain nintendo has been making these games since the NES? Now if you want some thing new then go buy a 3rd party game or play all those new games on your other system.

The way I see it Gear of war and little big planet are the biggest games you guys are getting. Both are boring to me so the HD console are ignoring a loyal PS2 owner? I've yet to get the games that are seen as classic on that system. No shadow of colossus? Einhander? Hey enjoy your systems and your new purchases though you are not hurting nintendo by crying. Maybe your just not really into to console games maybe your a PC gamer that's confused? Either way it's your problem and it's not a hardcore one either.

I wouldnt read that much into it . They're making a killing with shovelware , outside of their actual and real games ... so there's no rush for them , imo its that simple .

It's all about dragging on and on the wii phenomenon ... so with new addons and crap like wii fit , they can last forever , while throwing once everywhile a mario or a zelda .

problem is... why did they waited until now to launch this peripheral that should've been included on the Wii Remote ever since it launched!? Its not like they coudln't do it, of all 3 systems the Wii is the only that ahs been making a profit for every system they sell ever since they launched!

They better make my jaw drop when they announce the real core games next year (we shouldnt have to wait so much for an announcement!) or they'll loose a fan that has stuck with them for better (NES) or worse (GC).

The hardware 2 years ago would be to pricy to big to much power consuming.

Edit: the current library does not support Motion plus so this makes the current price on the Wii-motes better.
You dont have to buy Motion plus to play the current library.

I own all of those games and have enjoyed playing them all..but at the end of the day nintendo has lost the plot..i have owned every system that nintendo has ever released and to put it honestly the Wii is a pile of shiit..they have tried to expand there user base and it may have worked to start off with, but unless they do something drastic in the future there going to lose there die hard followers..
I was one but no more..:(
