Games Convention 2008 First Photos

Over at gamekyo are the first photos of Games Convention 2008 booths at Leipzig. This year, Sony Computer Entertainment and Activision Blizzard have probably the biggest booths. Microsoft's booth is pretty poor (no sign of Gear of War 2). And Mirror's Edge has the most surprising setup! Take a look.

Its good to see! I was hoping they would start promoting this game hard. It looks like its going to be a great game, and people need to know about it. First day for me.

Not sure what Microsoft is trying to pull at this convention, but it doesn't look good. Sony will have some big announcements, along with more information about things they announced at E3. (Looking forward to GoW3 and other first parties from Sony) While Gears 2 and Fable 2 are firsts days for me, they just don't seem like enough. Hope for some surprises maybe?

I agree with you about Microsoft. I was very surprised to hear that they weren't making a big deal about this show especially after they hired that guy from Sony and saying that they want to be a major force in Europe.

Hopefully Sony Europe puts on a better show than Sony America

Their booth is pretty amazing and the poster for Mercs 2 reminded me I need to preorder that for day one purchase.

What is MS up to?
I don't understand why MS are not going all out?
Its lost momentum to Sony in Europe, but could surely halt the decline with a strong showing here - and it has some real big hitters that can turn heads. Gears 2 and Fable 2 should have huge stands as befits titles of their stature, and if they have some announcements kept back, well heres the place to spill them!

By keeping a smaller presence, they ensure their competitors will get a bigger showing and thus more press coverage, so I just don't understand - MS are normally ahead of game tactically and I refuse to believe the lack of presence is due to cost...

Small MS presence or not, I'm looking forward to all the announcements from this show. I know Sony have a few surprises, I wander if Nintendo have anything up their sleeve?

The well is running dry, that's why.

If I were Microsoft, I would want to stay ahead of the competition every step of the way. I wouldn't allow them to gain the upper hand at ALL. I would want to steal Sony's thunder.

But...Microsoft are pretty stupid so I wouldn't expect anything more from them. They'll hold on to that 20.3 million lead and 'la-la-la' in their minds even though Sony is catching up like a runaway train.

it does look pretty cool, Looks claustrophobic over in the Killzone section, should help the games feel a little more.

can't wait for the PS store update. Also, I hope that IGN don't send over the UK PS team, cause they always seem negative about everything. Send over the US.. sod the distance.

It's true that their UK team is sort of negative and always give games a lower score. However,there's no soul out there that isn't going to be blow away by this. Just look at the pics. Wish I were there.

Sony has sold a LOT of PS3's in Europe in a short amount of time and with Sony having the bulk of the show, the interest in the PS3 will remain stimulated in Europe. I wonder how Microsoft plans on winning Europe like they say by not being at a major Game Convention in Europe.

I think it's a little obvious that Sony is at Leipzig because they just have a little bit more to show. Leipzig would have been the perfect time for Microsoft to show off Alan Wake if it was ready, but Heavy Rain will definantly steal the show... or some other newly announced PS3 exclusive will steal the show.

Not to mention,Sony is holding two more aces in their hand for Tokyo Game Show which are the two Team ICO games.

Also the new Nippon Ichi PS3 game will be shown at TGS.Along with Suikoden 6 for the PSP and gameplay footage of Final Fantasy XIII on the PS3.

Can anyone link an actual response from MS on their small showing? I understand as of right now there doesn't seem a lot more than Fable2 and Gears2 going on but where's the beef? I know why I bought a PS3 - I used to own a Xbox and a PS2- if and when I do get a 360 it has to be for more of a reason than those two games....its very close though.
Do any MS fans have a good idea whats going on? Where do the MS fans talk about their secret worries...or do they have any?

I'm glad MGS4 is there chances are konami may announce trophies and in-game messaging/music for MGS4.Or Kojima may say something about the Alternate ending for MGS4 this fall,just because its was released two month's ago doesn't mean it isn't relevant through out the rest of the year...
