exactly! How about working on a new IP with something that involves more slashing and shooting than jumping? Is it so hard?

You say something new please, but when has a solo mario game ever dropped below 90% on metacritic ??? How about never. The fact is mario may be overused but the games mario has on his own are some of the best games in the industry.

1.3 - Why?
ffs what are u guys talking about?Super Mario games are almost all classics. Why something new when Mario IS GAMING on its best??And Nintendo dont just copy previous Mario games they always add new things to the games. Why no hate against other devs when they release sequels???

it's not wrong but it just feels wrong! you are right by saying that every installment of Mario will have something new but the sad truth right now about Nintendo's console especially the Wii, the only games making impact on it is those containing Mario and friends and that's just how SAD the Wii is despite the major success!

Wii only has a few of these overused franchises. Mario, Zelda...?

If I get tired of MGS I just pick up FF, or GTA, Resistance, or LOTs of other hardcore games.

Nintendo is right to milk Mario, but don't you want something new too?

Exactly. we know you are working a new mario. You wouldn't even exist but for working on new marios. We get that, and that is fine. The games are good. But you don't need to tell us that.

Tell us what else you are working on.

well, seeing as super mario galaxy, was one of the highest rated games last year, and was one of my favorite games too. seriously stop being such fanboys and just play the games, if the games good, it's good, miyamoto makes damn good games and is recognized as a pioneer of the industry, I welcome a new traditional mario game, whether that would be on the ds or wii (or wiiware?) I don't care, as long as I actually have something to look forward to on my Nintendo platforms, seeing as there's only a few gems on the horizon. Why do you count all the spinoffs of mario as his games anyway? games like kart, smash, sports all those games aren't mario games they're spinoffs, but mario 64, sunshine and galaxy have all been excellent, and they're not the same, they all have the same core gameplay but are diffrent in many ways, whatever, ignorance only affects you.

When people want Mario to start shooting and slashing in FPS mode, then you know that the game industry is really bad. HALO, COD, Counterstrike goshhhh please, it is hard to find more boring games than those. Gears of war on the other hand is great!! :)

Good news I guess. Miyamoto would make a real good Joker for the next Batman, if he put a little makeup on. He kind of reminds me of Jack Nicholson as the joker in the 1989 Batman movie, hehehe.

11.1 - umm
pikmin didn't fail, it did very well even though the gamecube wasn't that hot in sales, Nintendo has made new IPs for this generation but they haven't made any new harcore IPs, while we have no idea about project H.A.M.M.E.R and disaster: dod, look at the gamecube for new IPs, you had Luigi's Mansion, (very underated game) pikmin, animal crossing, eck, geist(that game could have been so much), and you also have the revolutionairy metroid prime, even though thats not a true new IP it was amazing to play, and a shame that consoles didn't adapt to that control scheme, analogue will never be a replacement for mouse and key, but this was damn good. sorry this isn't a rant at you more at everybody commenting, "oo, boring, who saw that coming" yeah, who saw Final Fantasy XIII coming? Gears 2? Halo 4 (it'll happen) the point is, sequels aren't bad at all, and the reason Nintendo uses the same characters again and again, well thats obvious, Nintendo doesn't use characters for development or story, the character is there for familiarity now, you don't play a mario platformer for mario, you play it for the game, and when ever microsoft or sony create a character that etches itself into history, link, mario, samus you name it, they will hold on to it until they are either bankrupt or need a lot of money *cough* sega *cough*, I mean 6 years down the road I'll sure we'll see Halo Kart, or Gears of Tennis, and I will gladly play them.

"Making these 'traditional' games is what I am best at."
- Miyamoto

I completely and wholeheartedly agree!

Now flush sh1t like Wii Music, Sports Resort, and anything that involves a balance board down the toilet and put all your resourses on Mario and Zelda. Do what you're best at. Let someone else worry about the casual crap. At this point your "casual product" employee can pretty much sell any rubbish to the public as long as its Nintendo branded, and you can devote some time to your more discerning customers.

13 - Where does Mario have left to go?
Fields? check, water? check, space? check, travel troughout time savung the princess in different eras? maybe, but how many times have other games done this? (no princess, but world saving through time). With such successful franchises, why not take what you have learned from that success and develope a new hero. Hmmm wait a tick Ocarina of Time had minor time travel with princess...oh well.

Personally I can't get enough of Zelda and Mario.

I think Mario made the current gen leap successfully, but I don't think Zelda did.

If Mario games that evolve and innovate like Galaxy keep coming then I'd be happy with that.
My worry is that with the change in Nintendo's direction, we won't get much more of that. (See Miyamoto's casual Zelda statement)

The Mario Formula felt fresh, Zelda TP didn't.

Now, I realise that Zelda TP was originally a Gamecube game, although the GC and Wii are almost the same machine, but Zelda is no longer epic like it used to be. Long yes, epic by GC standards: sure. Epic by Current gen Fable 2, Fallout 3 standards: no.

linkmaster95 - 515 days 5 hours ago
15.2 - The next Zelda will be epic by any other ridiculous standard you gen think of!
I disagree. The only reason Zelda didn't work well on Wii was because it was technically a gamecube game where wrist flicking replaced button mashing. That's why nintendo needs to give the next Zelda 1:1 sword fighting, otherwise, it will be idealy the same as twilight princess. If Nintendo plays their cards right, this Zelda game could probably take away Mario Galaxy's title of "Best game on the Wii so far" in Nintrndo Power.

Iwata explained, you don't have to believe it i'm just saying it what he said, that Miyamoto is more looking at gameplay elements instead of concentrating on the characters. He is just looking at what he can improve and what he can add.

So since Mario is popular...why not?
And FFS people don't pretend his games are bad.
Saying they need new IP's is just a lame excuse.
Play it and enjoy it( you will XD)

19 - Expedited Mario and new Zelda proof Nintendo has nothing else to offer
The question now should be, seeing that a new Mario and Zelda game are going to be coming out for the Wii (definitely a lot quicker than I thought they would) is what does Nintendo have planned after that? There will be no 3rd Mario game for the Wii, if this 2nd Mario even comes out on the Wii (remember, Mario Galaxy and Zelda were both supposed to be gamecube games) But with the Wii now being fully stocked at alot of stores I go to now, it is not hard to see that people's fascination with the Wii is starting to wane.

I don't really care what anyone's opinion is with regards to Wii, Zelda or Mario.

But... I think it is important that you all remember who got this whole thing started.

The game industry would look very different without Nintendo and Miyamoto specifically.

So next time you want to hop online and rant to the worldwide community of millions of gamers. Remember who made the industry the success that it is today.
