E3 2008: Miyamoto Almost Confirms Kid Icarus

In the months leading up to the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2008, sources told IGN that a Wii remake of Kid Icarus was underway and destined to be unveiled at the event. Unfortunately, a day prior to the show, IGN learned that said project would not be on display after all. So when they met up with Nintendo mastermind Shigeru Miyamoto, they had Kid Icarus on their mind. The first question was, simply, where is Kid Icarus for Wii?

1 - Oh
That doesn't come close to making up for a terrible Nintendo conference, but it is good to hear.

1.2 - Because gamers expect to hear game news at a game conference
Yes, it is a conference, and yes, there will be interviews and demos later, but when stuff isn't presented when everyone (even most haters) is watching, it makes for a frustrating conference.

Did I mention this only comes once a year? It's like not getting a great present at Christmas, you will be upset, disappointed, and unable to see the good in what you got instead.

That is why this conference matters.

That people didn't catch Reggie saying that there were TOO many games in development to mention.

I'm excited about this game coming out. Seems like one of the few "hardcore" games Wii is getting. Just because previous titles weren't any good doesn't mean that new versions will completely suck either. How long's it been since the original Kid Icarus?? Like 20 years?

7 - Still...
Saying you have too many games in development to talk about is a cop-out if I ever heard one. Please, humor us with a list of a handful of the games you are working on instead of talking about CoD 5, which everyone knows about.

As a Wii Owner, I would love to be wrong about that. I would like nothing more than for the Wii to have a variety of entertaining franchises. But just like the Gamecube, the Wii is prone to horrible dry spells after the release of Mario/Zelda/Metroid.

Confirming Kid Icarus would have done wonders in calming concerns about said game drought.
