2008: A Look Back at The 1st 1/2 & a Look Ahead to the 2nd 1/2 and Beyond

The weekly compilation of VG Chartz's Console Sales Numbers are always controversial to the N4G community. However, one of the website's most talented statisticians, The Source, has developed a comprehensive breakdown of 2008. It specifies the numbers that have been tabulated in the first half of 2008, and previews on where The Source feels the numbers will lead in its second half.

1 - You mean 2008 in review right?
Anyway, alot of stats and look plausible. Atleast the author doesn't seem to have gone all Sony fanboy on us. PS3 will do well over the next 6 months, MS need to get their act together with the 360.

That elite should be cheap as dirt by now.. Xbox live membership should come with some free credits for purchases and MS need to promote xbox live arcade games alot more..

Good article, pretty even on all sides. Good to see all 3 selling well. But lets face it the Wii has walked away with it this time with Sony and Microsoft picking up the rest. Looks like its pretty even between Sony and Microsoft. Sony had a good showing but seems to have slowed momentum somewhat and Microsoft seem pretty consistant but need a price drop to bring figures back up. Sony seems to be selling around 200,000 a month more going by these figures, whilst this is good its probably still not good enough for Sony as by the time they get a lead the next generation may be upon us. Who knows, they might all have price drops and multi million selling games. Either way sales are good.

3 - According to VG, Sony is on track to sell 10 million consoles this year.
Which is in line with their forecast. But what's surprising is that 360 is only on track to sell about 7 million units, which about the same number as last year.
