1 - Man, this is hilarious!

Seriously I just can't wait for the responses here in the comments. This article is even more silly than some of flamebait PS3 vs. 360 ones that pop up every other day.

This seems like it's supposed to be some kind of ego boost for Sony fans. But is that really neccessary? lol The Wii has the casual consumers firmly in its grasp. The PS3 appeals much more to hardcore gamers.

One being more 'popular' depends solely on your perspective and what markets, demograph, etc. are included. In the end people will believe whatever they want to believe.

But I wouldn't say that the author is trying to prove that the PS3 is outselling the Wii. he is simply stating the differences in the two consoles and seems to think that in the long run, the PS3 will come out on top due to the amount of extra features the PS3 has compared to the Wii (since the Wii is on the lower end of the spectrum when it comes to extra features whether you are comparing it to the PS3 OR the 360.)

Im sure the PS3 will EVENTUALLY catch up to the Wii considering the PS3 has approached Wii sales numbers on a few occasions, but not anytime soon. That's my two cents.

No rumble was due to the law sue they had about the PlayStation 2 and was settled just before the launch of the PlayStation 3. On that part Sony had no choice but to get rid of the technology for a while. With in-game XMB I think Sony just wanted the console out so by the end of 2008 everything should be on par.

With the choices with the PlayStation 3 I think it was genius because who's really ready to buy a new console in 2010? Sony's console is future proof it has the technology with stand the next competition for a while. With the PlayStation 4 they should focus of how we interact with video games rather than features.

Older audiences and women are able to access the Wii, and propel them into video games. I personally think it's great that it's doing it.

As an owner of all 3 consoles, I definitely feel that PS3 is the one with the most potential for us in the hardcore, However, I also feel PS3 being able to reach to a casual audience the same way PS2 did.

However, Wii is definitely breaking bounds with the casual, and I enjoy playing Wii myself sometimes. The experience of just "hoping in to the game" is pretty cool. I mean, I can always just hop on for a second, collect a star or two, on Mario Galaxy, and stop playing. =P

Im not sure if they are up to date on the latest PS3 info.

1. They mention the 60gb version which has obviously been discontinued.

2. They state that PS3 controllers have no rumble functionality. Which is true to some extent because the sixaxis does not have rumble but if you really wanted rumble then you could just buy a DS3.

but the truth is... it sucked. it just compared the two's specs, without even stating how they came to the conclusion that they did. the worst part is that the writer left the article so open-ended making seem as if the writer was just comparing facts for the heck of it.

How can you Categorize the PS3 to a Ferrari and a Wii to a Toyota Prius?You know that Ferrari make a maximum of 6,000 cars a year and the cheapest going for 130,000 pounds while Toyota make over 9 million cars and the most expensive at 58,000pounds.

Never in the history of those 2 car manufacturers have they ever fought for the same market share or customers.But the truth is that Sony is trying to capture some market share from Nintendo with titles like Buzz and Singstar and Nintendo the same with titles like Metroid Prime, Zelda and so on.

People need to get there facts right about Why Sony never had Runmble when the PS3 first came out.
Sony and MS got sued for Not paying the company that made rumble for there controllers i think its called a patent in the end MS payed up but sony didn't they didn't think they did anything wrong and didn't want to pay up so the court case geting going on untill sony payed the company for the Patent. Once they did the company went to work with sony again to make the DS3 SIXAXES.

Please gtet ur facts when it comes to why Sony didn't bring out the DS3 when the PS3 first came out they had no choice.

Blame Sony not the people. It was Sony after all that made excuses like "Rumble is a last gen feature" or the excuse they used saying motion controls and rumble couldnt work together. Alright people who know their cars Ferrari is owned by Fiat in which shares the same market as Toyota.Toyota is the number one auto maker in the world(Nintendo) and Fiat(Sony) is desperately trying to chip into their sales even in the european market share.Now since Fiat(Sony) owns Ferrari,Alfa Romeo,and Maserati(Ps3) which can all (besides alfa romeo since its an economy based subsidary) be considered "hardcore" are selling well towards the people who love those cars,but since Fiat also has Alfa(casual games) they are starting to sell better making Fiat(Sony) more profit and a bigger chunk out of the market share.

Now saying this everyone knows that no one will touch Toyota(Nintendo) this generation so yes if you really want to split hairs just to argue yes they are not in the same market share but in the bigger picture they are.

Besides you missed the point the Prius is an innovation in this day of age with its hybrid motor while the Ferrari is brute power just like the console themselves.Nintendo is innovative through the motion sensor tech and the Sony is brute power.

not many car makers have one car that does that. I own 2 cars and one of them is a 1994 Toyota 4runner and the thing runs like champ. I havent been driving it much because it gets 10mpg while my other car gets 21mpg..

The Wii is NOT focused on gameplay, the Wii is focused on selling gimmicks. The Wii is a great case of great marketing, not a great case of a great product, unlike the PS3, which is a great product with poor marketing since people do not even know why there is extra cost. That is why the Wii is really popular, not because it is good, but because it makes people think it is good.

Poor Wii owners, they think that the Wiimote actually detects your precise movements when you can simply sit lazily and waggle. If the Wii is a great case of selling on gimmicks then the PS3 is SONY raping it's fans to stay alive and get a new DVD format going. I'd rather buy a gimmick... this is also what people called gaming period after the atari crash. Thanks to nintendo this gimmick is lasting pretty long and hell we got HD guys with nose bleed tech trying to wow us also. Just imagine what they are going to do next gen because they sure as hell can not make a game every one want to try. MS and SONY don't just become their comp they just try to copy. Call it a gimmick but you must also see the gimmick associated with high end graphics don't you? It's the same one that killed the arcades. Nintendo down fall is to make a NEXT gen Console with last gen graphics that can't even play DVD films or play CDs. I have all 3 consoles but the last game i got for the Wii was super Mario Galaxy. And the last time i played that was when it first came out.
Your never gonna see the games that u get on the 360 and the PS3 and it will come to the point where game companys will stop downgrideing game graphics just so it can come out on the Wii.

Soon the hype will die on the Wii just like all fads and things that are hyped sooner or later that hype dies down.

Sometimes it isn't that great to stay thinking out side the box.

Now with games getting bigger and needing more space how many companys are really gonna waste there time porting games on to the Wii thats why Resident Evil 5 will never see its face on the Wii same goes for the Next DMC game unless Nintendo try to get exclusives on them and even if they did i don't think some companys would do it.

because they wanna beable to do new things and the only new thing u can really do with the Nintendo Wii when it comes to there games is some thing crazy with the controller.

With games like Nintendo dogs and that cooking Mama game on the Wii how much more are people really gonna wanna buy a console with those type of games.

The only good games out on that console are the First party one and not even some of thoes are that great SSBB and MK and legend of Zelda and Mario and Metraled prime sorry about spelling are people the only great games going for it.

The hype on the Wii will die down when thats something only time can tell.

What is funny is the author tries to say that tech and games are the things that will beat the Wii out. Well if that's the case then PC gaming would be the right choice for this. You can get PCs just as big as the PS3 with bigger hard drives and even play lots of PS3 games not to mention the true casual games like online poker and the office classic solitaire! Then you can get games like the drug dealer sim LOL. Then you can actually make maps for a PS3 game and some PCs will cost you $400 new! You can watch all the MGS4 cut scenes on you tube! For free! Some how the Wii still survives the onslaught of the PC amazing huh? The game list on the PS3 just isn't doing it for me. Maybe they will show me some good stuff during E3. I'm hoping to be hyped with this true gen talk!

Disagree all you want droids(actually, it's probably just Maverick with multiple accounts), doesn't change the fact that it's true. Would it help if I said, the Wii is more popular than both the 360 and PS3? Because like it or not, it is. Casual gamers outnumber hardcore gamers.

please remember you are in the Open Zone. If you are trying to make a valid point or start an intelligent debate, you should head to the Gamer Zone. However, calling people droids without even knowing who disagreed with you, just makes you look like a fanboy as well, so maybe you should just chill here.

Sorry pal, but I really don't post in Gamer zone. Fanboys crack me up, what can I say?

I posted my first comment a minute or so after his. Two minutes go by and I got a disagree. Then two minutes after that, another.

Keep in mind theres a decent gap before anyone else commented. It's possible people disagreed with me, yeah, but it just seems kind of strange. Never received disagrees that fast before.

Droid and Xbot are terms that set the tone of a message. I'm pretty sure I can use either in the open zone. Theres a difference between obsessive fanboys, and gamers who own more than just one console. Just because I prefer one over the other, doesn't make me blind.

i think it was a bad idea to bas a console off of a controler, but as the person at nintedo said "ITS JUST A FAD" people are going to get bored of them.

PS3 is the best next gen system to own and the Wii is just a fun console w/ innovative controls.
At this point Nintendo is the most popular console at the moment still sold out in stores cuz of the high demand.
People like the Wii for 3 reasons.
1.) It's the cheapest console to get this generation.
$250 compared to $350 (360) and $400 (PS3)
2.) The controls to play games on the Wii is unique and that's something that sells well.
3.) Some popular series still remain. (Mario, Zelda, etc.)

Things Sony needs to do to takeover Japan.
1.) Price drop ($100)= $300
2.) Release a few RPG Games. (Star Ocean 4, Tales of Vesperia, FFXIII, etc.)
3.) Advertise well in those regions.
In America the commercials for the PS3 are off the hook but everywhere else not so well.
Europe commercials for the PS3 are weird.
The way I see it use the American Commercials over seas and expect a big jump in popularity.

Sony still has plenty of games to satisfy.
