Report: US Wii Fit shortages intentional

Gamespot writes: Nintendo has been plagued with hardware supply problems for its latest console, the Wii, since it launched in December 2006. The issues continued throughout 2007, with the company unable to meet demand for its latest console in other regions, including both the US and UK.

I don't think that title is really fair. There is no evidence Nintendo is artificially limiting supply to create a shortage. They're just choosing to send the majority of their product to areas where they make a higher profit, which is good business sense.

The weakness of the dollar means this will happen more and more.

Exactly. It's damn arrogant of US based media to think that US is the one and only market area. Last I checked, Europe had this nifty economic area called European Union, which has a monetary unit that is stronger than dollar... Also, approximately 200 million more inhabitants than US. Even with Canada and Mexico combined with US, EU would still have more potential customers.

now its intentional.. first some haters did not even expect wiifit to sell well in the u.s.. lets face with wii and wiifit nintendo just have a couple runaway hits
