CNET: "unethical" to choose any other console than Wii

CNET: Your relative's birthday is coming up soon, and you want to treat them to a brand new videogames console to mark the occassion, but which of 'the big three' (Nintendo Wii, Sony PS3 or Microsoft Xbox 360) should you plump for?

Well, if you're a CNET Asia technology expert, reports WiiFitChat.com, there's only one choice and it's the Nintendo Wii and a copy of Wii Fit... in fact, the site says you'd be "unethical" and "a liar" to recommend anything else.

OK, I am really $@#&ing piss off. Who the hell are they to tell us what unethical, and call us liar because we recommend a different console to family gaming other than a Wii.

Usually I don't really care when a either Sony, MS, or Nintendo article claim that their console is better, but this is going to far. CNET Asia have no @#$&ing rights to tell if we don't recommend a Wii, we are unethical.

I had owned 2 Nintendo Wii in the past, and was looking to buying another one around next year. I was going to buy one again sooner if Monster Hunter was release in the US this year. But base on these stupid ass comments, I am not even going to get another Wii.

I am going to be Unethical and a Liar and continue to play my PS3 and Xbox360. And if someone ask me which Console to recommend, I am going to tell them to get either a PS3 or Xbox360.

The only reason why someone would recommend a Wii is that anyone and everyone can play it, but not everyone can play a PS3 or 360.

But it definantly isn't unethical to recommend anything else other than a Wii. And how can someone recommend a Wii if you can't even walk in a store and buy one? So basically that would mean that a PS3 or 360 would be one of the only gaming consoles to recommend if Wii's aren't avaliable in most stores.

The Nintendo Wii would clearly be NOTHING without the Motion Sensing, I mean, just look at how the Gamecube turned out( a flop). If Nintendo tried to make the Wii an Oridinary game console like the 360 and PS3 that wasn't focused so much on motion sensing, I guarantee you that the Wii would be 3rd in sales right now.

you are right, nintendo knew that they couldnt compete with ps360 with a "standard" console. Nintendo had to think out of the "box"... They did that and are now leading and (probably) winning "the console war". Props too nintendo for doing this!!

Apparently the writer forgot that the Wii is not even in the running versus the PS3 and 360. Wii a toy, plain and simple. If you view it as anything else, you are deceiving yourself, especially if you only have a Wii. I HAD a Wii, sold it and bought 4 PS3 games and a now defunct Sixaxis.

That's freaking retarded. If a Ps3 or 360 caused boils or Aids then i could see it being a question of ethics. Way to hyperbolize the importance of Wii-fit to untold levels. Not only will it tell you how much you weigh, it will also guarantee you a place in Heaven within high fiving distance of both God and Baby Jesus. Now that's what i call a game!!

BubblesDAVERAGE I class myself as a real gamer and only own a Wii. But you are right the Wii is different to other consoles and not everyone will like it. But it my own current gen console and I am very satisfied with it.

canadianpatriot if the Wii is a toy then so is the PS3 and 360.

OT it isn't right that the Wii should be the only ethical choice. I am planning on buying a PS3 in the future when some games that I would like to play eg GT4 are out so I do not agree with the article . You should be able to recommend all consoles.

I must have been imagining all those hours spent playing Zelda, Metroid Prime, Super Mario Galaxy...

You're right that all video game consoles are toys in the end, and I have some respect for the Wii, but my problem is with the wiimote, which I feel IS a gimmick in most games. A great example of this is Metroid Prime. I've found that playing metroid prime with the wiimote was just a nightmare. Moving the camera is much, much more difficult with a wiimote than a regular controller and shooting at enemies is with the willmote is really frustrating. The wiimote makes metroid ten times worse. The wiimote is better on super mario galaxy, but it's still pointless. The wiimote is a toy gone bad. Also, are you playing these wii games on an HDTV? The jaggies are mind-blowingly bad. It makes certain sections of mario almost unplayable. And what games is nintendo gonna give us in the future? Mario, metroid, and zelda are all already out. I think they're going to stop making "hardcore" games from now on, and concentrate on wii sports and wii fit type games. Honestly, I think some of this wii hate is deserved. I bitterly regret buying a wii.

LOL you found point and click to be frustrating?geez man you must have some serious handicap there. My 5 year old niece can aim just fine. Just admit you dont own one. Anyone can tell, you dont own a console and spend the whole time trashing it for reasons that are made up..I dont know why I am posting this though, if point and click on Wii is impossible for you it will take you a month to be able to point at reply with the mouse.

Sigh. Of course I own a wii. You assume that there's no possible way I could find any fault with the wii if actually owned one because wiis are flawless, so I must be lying. Maybe I find the wiimote difficult because I have been playing with normal controllers for so long that its hard for me to change. The wiimote is probably easier for someone like you who hasn't been playing games very long to master. But I have been playing game since before you were born, and I guess I'm set in my ways. And if you claim that most wii games aren't full of jaggies then you either don't have an HDTV or you're lying.
