Court rejects appeal over deaths on Sam Donaldson's NM ranch (Jack Thompson's GTA Vice City Lawsuit)

A state court has rejected a move to reinstate a wrongful death suit which sought $600 million from PS2 manufacturer Sony and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City publisher Take-Two Interactive. The game played by a teenager who killed three of his family members in 2004.

The killings occurred on newsman Sam Donaldson's ranch in southern New Mexico.

The lawsuit had alleged that the video game "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City" contributed to the killings because Cody Posey played the game "obsessively" and it trained him to act out the violence when he shot and killed his father, stepmother and stepsister in July 2004. He was 14 at the time of the killings.

I heard about a study released today when I was listening to the radio. Basically it measured many indicators, crime, gun deaths/injuries, prison population, military spending/involvement/deaths, relationships with other countries, and stuff I just can't remember. Put together It is some sort of wellbeing, safety measurement of a particular country...
America was listed 97th just above Libya, Iceland coming out on top. I'm not personally attacking Americans which is an easy hobby for some, but the sooner people like Jack Thompson realise that problem's in society of these kinds go way way deeper than people playing video games, the better.

If you took all the money from taxes et cetera that was spend on him and the trials he caused, you could help a lot of people who deserved it.

6 - why not ban the weapons he used?
it' stupid to think that a game kills people, weapons do, so ban them first and see how many people die of games.

I tend to disagree. It isn't a weapon that kills somebody, it is another person. A gun itself won't shoot. But since you can't control everybodys mind, well, I think you shouldn't ban guns, just make them much harder to get. Plus make bullets more expensive, like Chris Rock said 5000 $ each, there would be way less shootings in the world.

7 - I saw this covered on "The Investigators..."
and I was trying to understand what the kid went through, even though I felt that he should be held accountable for his step-sister's death. She didn't do anything to him. And I was a little forgiving with the final verdict, considering the life he was forced to endure...

...until they brought up the lawsuit at the end against GTA... You're not going to have him held fully accountable for the step-sister's death at least, and now you're trying to blame what HE did on Grand Theft Auto!!!

My sympathy for him dropped to zero.
