Nintendo why do you mock us?

Loot ninja writes:

"Seems like nowadays I cant really grasp what Nintendo is doing as far as their strategy. They have definitely focused on casual games and first party titles, they have neglected their online services and pretty much thumbed their noses at their user base."

2 - Neglected their online service?
LOL it has improved greatly with every release. It still has a very long way to go but MKwii is a vast improvement over Strikers. Just reading the first bit tells me there is no reason to go any further.

Imroved greatly!? I have to disagree, no voice support or even chat support is not a great improvement. Its like saying you only have a small case of "crabs", its still not good.

MKwii features a very lackluster pre-set autotext to talk ot other players. SSBB was the same wiht no user interaction and Strikers was a mess. Yes connecting is simple but lacking hte ability to speak or even chat with one another is sad for this day and age.

I personally don't consider voice or chat support to be a required characteristic of a good online service because it doesn't make sense to have it for all games.

Nintendo should've had it in Battalion Wars Wii because it makes sense to communicate in that game in order to strategize. In Mario Kart Wii however, that type of communication adds nothing to the core gameplay.

Improvements in online play are very apparent from Mario Strikers to Mario Kart, and even from Brawl to Mario Kart. Not only is the online play much smoother, but there are organized tournaments and rankings. Mario Kart set the new standard for online play on the Wii.

Yes taz8080 greatly improved. If you dont think that then you havent played Wii online. Sorry but there is more to online gaming than Voice chat and other than that and friends codes, Nintendo has improved in every other area.Sorry but if I can play Cod4,TF2, WoW without Voice chat then MKwii without it is no big deal.

3 - What?
My copy of Super Smash Collecting dust? I played that game for 4 hours today with my buddies and if this punk ever went to www.allisBrawl.com . He would see that plenty of people are still playing Brawl today online. And while their online service is not great Mario Kart does a fantastic job of fixing some of the online issues that plague Brawl like lag and finding matches. Plus at E3 I think were going to see a hard drive, a brawl channel that fixes some of Brawl's online issues and more titles that use pay N'play so that service could do away with friend codes. I can kind of see what this guy is saying but when there such a devoted community of Brawl players and the game is selling through the roof and Nintendo releases Mario Kart thats lag free and has worldwide rankings, They are doing something right to keep the fans happy. I feel Nintendo has delivered because I got to Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Metroid Prime 3, Legend of Zelda TP, and Mario Kart within a year and 1/2 of the wii release, Killer Apps in my book.

3.1 - I can agree wiht some of your points
No doubt that there first party titles have done well, but lets face it htey were rehashes of old games, no real new IP's.

I guess for me SSBB was a bit of a let down since the online was frustrating to play wiht friends, friend codes stink IMO. Brawl is a good game, dont get me wrong but if you look at it compared ot the rest of the titles beofre it they havent strayed too far from the original. Brawl is also more of a gmae that oyu play with buddies, I think the single player gets old pretty quick IMO.

As far as the HD, this has been tlaked about for a while now and is very lacking as well. Having SD cards only really limits what htey can do on the system.

I htink friend codes need to be tossed, they are not friendly or promote playing online, especially having separate ones for MK and SSBB. THats nuts.

I wouldnt call Mario Kart a killer app. The Wii is a great console, but the novelty is starting to wear off. They do continue to sell at record rates, but the friend codes and lack of voice chat is awful. I have to talk through skype to play Smash or Kart. I'll cough up 6 bucks a month to not have to do that.

Taz8080 half the Ps3/360 line up is rehashes.. Is the 6th GTA a new IP? What about the 6th MG? Oh thats another rehash. hell PS3 upcoming line up looks exactly like its first year. Resistance2, Motorstorm2,Killzone 2, I can only think of 2 truly original games on PS3. LBP and Haze. Of course Haze isnt truly original its just not an established IP. Then I look at the Wii and I see tons of new IP's. Disaster day of crisis, Boom Blox, Z&W, NMH, Conduit,Sadness, Mad world, Red Steel, RRR, Lost Winds, etc. From where I am sitting it seems the company that rehashes the most is Sony

6 - Boo to Friend Codes
My friends and I tried to organize a session with all three of us in Mario Kart. Even though we were all online, we never all three appeared online to each other at the same time. This happened repeatedly. It's also too hard to jump around sessions with an already formed group. Blug, there's no reason online should be this annoying.
