I think that selling more than twice what the PS3 and 360 sold combined is a pretty good measure of success. If you don't think that is success, then the other two are not likely to be successful in your eyes for a very long time, if ever.

forum_crawler, Sony and Microsoft were not in the gaming business back when Nintendo first resurged the gaming industry. I'm looking at the bigger picture, not just this generations hype and b.s.

If Nintendo is able to outsell all their previous systems combined that would be far greater than just outselling Sony's and Microsoft's current sales. That's what I meant but go ahead and assume more or something different because no one here ever bothers to get anything correct.

I see what you mean there. There I was thinking you were talking about the consoles available right now.

I am not sure about what the sales numbers for past Nintendo consoles are, but I would agree with you there. If they can sell more consoles with the wii than all consoles they have sold in the past, that would be a great achievement.

One thing to consider, I think Nintendo will never achieve the same percentage of the market it owned in the past simply because there is a lot more competition, and gamers have many more options now than in the past.

I'm pretty sure the wii is gonna have the most consoles sold by the end of this generation. The question is wether or not the gaming community would recognize it as the victor of the console war. It's still disputed wether or not the wii is even a next generation console or just a modified gamecube.

And won big. I do not own a Wii, and might get one in the next two years when my kids get a bit older.

But, the people I know who own a Wii are either 1)women 2) families with small kids.

Most of the people that I know who have a Wii are not interested in any other console because they are "Too complicated"

Yeah, there is a group that has all three or the Wii plus one other console, but Nintendo went after the people who usually don't buy consoles - and they succeeded.

Personally, I do not see the Wii as a competitor for the 360/PS3 because of this dynamic. People don't decide between a Wii and a 360/PS3(which are competitors). They either buy a Wii and nothing else, or a Wii plus a 360/PS3.

what I don't get is, everyone, yes I mean everyone I know that has a wii doesn't play it or they sold it.yeah its a little fun at first but not after playing for a while.but maybe its parents buying them for there kids.I'm sure that there are some great games but most are crap.I borrowed my neighbors for a week before they sold it and can say that i will never buy one

7 - I own a Wii.
It's lost it's appeal to me. It was fun the first few weeks, but since then, it barely gets turned on. I'm far from a hardcore gamer. I see the Wii getting the most consoles out, but Software attach ratio is where it will suffer. The big Nintendo fans will back it, but the casual audience won't buy all the games Nintendo wants them to. It is the next generation step for Nintendo, so this makes it next gen and all, but I'm more impressed with the other 2 Next Gen consoles.

Wii gets plenty of use in my house, never when I'm alone but if friends are over it's the Wii that gets played.

It's more fun than all my mates sat around watching me play GTA for 2 hours.

That is your statement, so when people tell you the difference is negligible (thus taking oomph from your statement) you claim they don't understand business?

I think it proves that it isn't about the cost of the console alone, which no doubt does have some impact, but it clearly shows that the wii does appeal to a greater number of people.
