7
OpinionDebug.com looks at the future of video games.
OpinionDebug writes:
'It's interesting to try and predict what will happen in the future, but technology is unpredictable so it's always been hard. With genres becoming saturated and stagnant, innovation is becoming harder and harder. So what will gaming be like in the future?'

Lets just hope that devs keep creating risky games like okami and such so that the world doesnt turn into a sea of yearly updates(Im looking at you ea). And lets hope that people actually but them aswell because Okami was outsold by the 50 cent game. That game was bolocks.

In my opinion, the number of really great games has decreased each generation from the 16 bit era onwards. Too many games are patching bits of other genres on like Frankenstein's monster. Now even the new Banjo game is looking like Ratchet and Clank: Tools of destruction rather than a Banjo game.
When I think of classic games I think of simple concepts, clearly executed. Sega, for instance, are brilliant at this. Crazy Taxi: Get in a taxi and deliver customers to their destination. I don't need 'Pimp my Taxi'- that makes the game LESS cool, not more.
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and Bioshock are some rare jewels in this generation. Bioshock might potentially seem complicated but they remembered to keep it simple. You can explore but an arrow always points the way you need to go.
The PS3 and the Xbox360 need to offer a much wider range of games. Since when did having the best graphics mean that you can't offer loads of fun games like Super Mario Galaxy? Ask any games studio and they would probably say that they respect Miyamoto. Why are so few of them trying to do anything like he did? They rely on a core masculine gamer.

"
i dont get this, how is it looking like ratchet and clank?
If N64 had the same Graphicle power as they have now you can bet on it that it would look exactly like this.
Expect games to look more alike. simply because the power is there to provide what developers want. Metal is gonna look like metal, Fur is gonna look like fur, shiny objects are going to be shiny.
SOme people even said LBP....>_< WTF.

5 - A few predictions of my own
I've predicted a few things in the past, let's see...
Dual GPU's: PC's already do it, why not?
Who's likely to try first? anyone's ballgame.
The ditching of the disc: I think as flash cards are steadily becoming bigger and cheaper, I think they'll become more efficient and less expensive to develop on then the old disc.
The reason, you can save money by buying the card that fits the game. PS3 developers pay for 50GB of space, when they're only using 5-7GB most of the time. The rest of the disc is wasted space they pretty much got ripped off on. Now, on cards, you only need the 8GB one, and the savings could be passed on to you, the gamer. Or, keep some extra space for DLC, saves right to the card, no need to take up HDD space.
Most likely I see Nintendo doing this. Microsoft, maybe, but I see them pushing online game downloads. Sony? Disc's have been too good to them over the years, and they'll want to push movies, so no.
