I kinda hope they do a good job. I'm sick of having to hate the guitar hero series now when i loved 1 and 2 so much.

I don't understand? If you love 1 and 2, why would you hate 3?
Admittedly, I'm not at all keen on the battles, but theres only three in the entire game? Other than that, its identical game play with one or two nice additions (like being able to see you consecutive not total.)
I'll admit I prefer the song tracks on GH2, and being an old git, I also enjoy all the song tracks off GH80's, but theres still a decent selection on no.3.
So how can you hate it? I'm genuinely interested! :)

If you call being a to make your own designs for your guitar innovating the series, then we can also call Sony adding a lint duster to the PS3 innovating. I'm pretty sure whatever they're talking about will be just as witty as my statement about the lint duster.
The Genius has spoken.

It's a ton of fun despite the fact that I am terrible at it.

GuitarHero 3 had much better songs IMO but I like the more mainstream, populist stuff. That said I don't want Guitar Hero to branch into singing and drums etc

I would love to see some more guitar heroes. They did a great thing when they added Eric Johnson and Buckethead. But where is Hendrix, Vai, Satch, Yngwie, Gilbert, Al Di Meola, Van Halen, Petrucci, I could go on forever.
I know most mainstream kids don't know who these artists are; however, I don't think people actually care about the track lists when they buy the game. I for one, dislike 70% of the music on GH3, but I still bought it because its enjoyable and you actually end up enjoying playing along with whatever tune regardless of whether or not its your cup of tea.

If your looking to waste far too much time - you can hack Guitar hero and create your own tracks. There are some great tools to enable you to do this and to enable you to arrange your own notes etc... check out 'scorehero for access to tools - though beware of some of the down loadable charts as they vary in quality from excellent to awful.
Of course you need a hacked machine to do it ( a PS2, or a hacked 360), but with a bit of patience you can create your own custom Guitar hero discs.
In addition to GH2 and GH3 I now have four other discs. The best of these is rips from GH1 and GH 80's on the PS2 that I've hacked into the 360 version of GH2. Having all the multi tracked music as well as the professional note layouts makes this a great disc. But I've also been slowly creating a whole bunch of my favorite tracks, so as well as the usual suspects (7 System of a down tracks!) I've also got some Vai, zappa, Ozrics - even other faves like B52's and great acoustic folk. If you like it, and your prepared to put in some time (it can take a few hours to get a track properly laid out), you can play almost anything you want!

12 - lol I am getting off the music games
Ironically a guitar class started at my school, I got a drumset, and hey I can sing by listening to a song.
