Boom Blox on Wii has the best physics on any platform

Boom Blox, the upcoming casual game from EA and movie director Steven Spielberg, has the best physics of any game across any console, according to its senior producer.

Speaking to VideoGamer.com in an interview at EA's Casual gaming brand event in London yesterday, Amir Rahimi, senior producer on Boom Blox, added that once the Wii version of the game is finished "there's definitely the possibility of going to other consoles".

What game would that be? Oh and are you enjoying your shuvelware console that you payed 250$ for?

Nick are you playing dumb or what? I asked what game had the worst physics, you said it is on the PS3 what game is it? Come on explain to us. Also I have a 360, not a ps3. And the PS3 isn't even shuvelware, your lil motion sensing gimick of a console is.

Ok Nick, so we can agree to disagree. Dont attack me because you think I am attacking the WII. I was just wondering from a tech side how components from years ago that did not have good physics with a pc now has the BEST physics... sounds like hype to me.

Like last years unanimous GOTY Super Mario Galaxy?
Shut this user up Let user speak

unanimous wouldn't describe the descision. Arguable GOTY, sure, but unanimous would mean everyone believed that, but between Orange Box, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, Uncharted and a few others different reviewers gave different games GOTY.

As far as physics... since Half-Life 2 was on the xbox, and its physics were revolutionary at the time, its reasonable to think that the wii is capable of really good physics. Better than games on the 360 and ps3? We'll just have to wait and see on that one.

Thank god someone has some sense around here.
Yes. Most of you guys, I will assume, do not program.

Before a Real programmer like me, I actually know what I'm talking about. Now. How is it possible? Like Sidar said, GOOD code.

Code with the best optimizations will run fine. You know, more powerful platforms have waaay worse code than Lower end platforms (see: PC). This is because developers don't optimize and clean the code up well enough, and they end up putting what they can do in a corner.

I find it funny how everyone says no one is pushing this platform, but yet when someone does everyone makes a negative deal out of it....

You can afford to put all efforts into the physics engine.

You know, all the Wii bashers are right!

I guess I should listen to everyone and convince myself that the hours of fun I have had on the system were just my imagination! I'll have to make sure I never play with my PS2 again either. The graphics are so old its just not fun anymore.

Just got to remember, its not about how much you enjoy a system, its about it leet specs!

am I the only one who thinks the Wii is a rip off? it probably made for less then or around $100, you then add ten/twenty dollars more for others things like staff/material etc and mass production wise you're making a ton...but your still ripping people off by giving them old, machinery with with a new remote...

but get it right and thats how you hit the jackpot...

You ignored R&D costs and all costs associated w/ everything that differentiates the Wii from its predecessor. It is easy to feel ripped-off by a console that has amassed profit for each unit sold from day one (which is how it always was before Sony/MS came into the industry AFAIK) when its competitors are a bit over-developed and consequently over-priced to the point of being sold at a loss at the beginning.

Wi-fi is last gen? Blu tooth is last gen? IR cameras built into the controller along with motion sensing is last gen? And all of those are extremely cheap to implement? Funny those first 2 are given as part of the reason the PS3 cost so much. Yet they are a rip off on Wii. MS charges 100.00 just for Wifi.. Yet it is a complete rip off only on Wii...It is amusing how many people want to only think about the price of the processor in the Wii when trying to tell others its over priced..Maybe I need to link some youtube videos of just how amazing the controller is alone and all th things that people are coming up with to use them for.The Wii comes with everything you need in the box to do 3d head tracking.. true no games exist yet that use it was it was pulled from Boom Blox but I see it happening soon doe to the amount of buzz it created.. Oh and you'll be able to do it on PS3 but only after you buy the new Eyetoy camera..So Wii is last gen junk but the top of the line PS3 still needs add ons to do what the Wii can out of the box..

4.1 - Not surprising really
You know 360/PS3 "fanboys" are right on the issues. You really can't deny the wii is just a shuvelware last ditch effort by Nintendo that actually payed off, granted they betrayed real gamers to do so. What ever, they have their little kids fans and the elderly to buy their crap now, enjoy.

Wins what? Where did you get from any of the comments the wii wins? You win old people and little kids, wow man great victory...But I guess when your down in last place you take what you can get, right Nintendo?

Just because a particular platform has faster hardware does not mean the hardware's been fully exploited. The POTENTIAL for better physics is there, and that's it.

Considering that Wii hardware shares a lot of similarities w/ GC hardware, I don't see why devs w/ years of GC-development experience wouldn't be able to write excellent physics algorithms for the Wii.

Anyway, this statement was made most likely for hype-building purposes.

10 - So what -
even if this is true which I highly doubt, the Wii only entertains me for a few hours at a time and that's with a standout game like Brawl. The lack of bells, whistles, and blinking lights isnt enough to keep me interested, much less buy one for personal entertainment.

In contrast, I could play WarHawk for days on end, chat (while playing the game), or enjoy a full library of PS2 games at my disposal.

I'd rather go to my friend's house and play his, since he's already taken the plunge. Except for a few games, the wii mote is more of a gimmick and really not necessary unless you're playing wii sports, elebits etc.. and those games get old - quickly.

Just my opinion, please don't flame out of control.

The Wii definitely has a higher percentage of "short spurts of entertainment" games than the PS3 or 360, which I think is where the full GC game compatibility and VC comes into play for some. Okami's release on the platform helps, as have some of the recent RPG releases, but I think most of the future WiiWare titles will provide more "short spurts of entertainment". Granted, for me personally this is a good thing since I don't really game for hours on end. I can definitely see how this is not particularly appealing to others tho.

Well yeah it all depends on what games you like to play. For me I couldn't play Warhawk for days on end. Maybe 30 mins or an hour, but I can play Fire Emblem all day and then get mad at Metroids' crazy hard boss fights. Okami is awesome and if you don't have it Madden you need to buy it on PS2 honestly the game is great. Do it now! ;) and that is a real culprit in just playing for hours on end ^^

When did this happen? let me guess the moment SONY switched the Gamer-brain status?
