Wow. The Wii version looks A *lot better*
It puts the PS2 to shame in some of those comparisons.
Then again, that's not saying much, considering PS2 couldn't do Real-time water effects.

"then again the PS2 was released in 1999 so like almost a decade ago O_O "
Thats actually funny, i mean people bash Wii cant do better than the PS2....
Although, The ps2 was always lacking colors because it only supported 8-bit pallets while the GCN supported 24-bit pallets.
Not sure What the Wii supports but i guess its 32-bit or something...

The lack of color saturation/lower constrast is how it is on the PS2, I think it helps out with the water color artistic feel. The super color saturation on the Wii makes it look similar other cell shaded games. I think it looks good either way, although it does look nicer in the canvas screen to have the colors like this.
I would say the color change has little to do with the different consoles and more to do with gearing this towards the Wii audience.

5.2 - Actually you may be right
The first thing I noticed too.
I spent a lot of time playing Okami, and it did not look THAT dull on my tv. At the same time it was not as colorful as the Wii.
On another note, I sorta liked the misting effect on the PS2. They should have kept that.

While the Wii does look more vibrant, I feel when I look at the Ps2 on it's own it's they way they wanted it to be presented, and I like it better. Looks amazing either way.
Amazing game still trying to ponder if I should double dip.

6.2 - I prefer the pastel shades of the PS2 version.
The Wii version to TOO colourful in my opinion. Its like they have upped the colour vibrance to appeal more to the Wii audience? Sure at first sight the Wii version looks "better" colour wise, but the games graphics are meant to be of a particular style to that of a painting... so with that, take your pick: -
PS2 = Water colour
Wii = Oil paint
So decide on your favourite art style. This isn't your normal Xbox 360 Vs PS3 debate where "Drab" colour = bad.

8 - wii version is most likely capture with component in 480p
wii version is most likely capture with component in 480p, like most PS2 and wii comparison. Ps2 version doesnt support 480p and the defaulty setting the in option is standard tv instead of LCD tv.

The Wii version IS more vibrant in that video but I'm running component for my PS2 and it looked pretty much like that except it wasn't progressive scan. Doesn't matter which one looks better, they play the same GO SUPPORT that awesome game.

or is there something really off about actually validating a comaparison vid of a game on two different generation console and mos tyou get from it is that the current gen console has more colour depth saturation?
I mean, really? My current gen machine is being compared to a last gen machine? really?!!

People fail to realize that Okami Wii isn't a new game. It was ported over. Same game. Same style. Slight upgrades. It's not a new game.

Just kidding. lol. Whatever. A) the PS2 is 480i not 480p like the Wii.
B) why are they even comparing this?
C) I bet it's pretty fun on the wii with the controls

I don't remember the colors being so washed out when I played it on my PS2, I think their color settings must have been all jacked up for the PS2. I did notice less jaggies on the Wii but most probably it would look just as good on my PS3 with upscaling ^^, great game by the way, if you haven't played it go grab a copy!

21 - Comparing a Wii to a PS2
Well the wii looks colorful the PS2 is less colorful, but ok one thing to add in mind they port it over to a more powerful machine, is like comparing Oblivion 360 then comparing it after the PS3 version came out of course it will be better it needs to be or else that would be one horrible port...seriously plus ps2 is just old so give it a break plus it has better games than the wii prove that wrong, you can't XD

This game was a port from the PS2 to the Wii. The graphics were refined a bit, but nothing was redrawn. No extra polygons added. You fanboys trying to make it seem as if the Wii couldn't do any better than what we see here are pathetic. Grow up.

24 - Skip cut scenes.
Another difference with the Wii version is you can skip cut scenes with the "+" button. Thank god. The Japanese have this f*cking obsession with forcing you to watch cut scenes.
I will say that despite my rabid hatred for cut scenes, Okami was a beautiful, spiritual, absolutely engrossing game.

well i've logged on just so that i can join the fun here. this is similar situation to the whole Gametrailers refuses to use HDMI on PS3 comparisons, because when i played Okami on the PS2, it looked just as vibrant as the Wii version. turning down the colour and then making a comparison is just plain dumb. i don't buy it!
