Rock Band coming to PS3, PS2 and Wii on August 29

EA has confirmed to VideoGamer.com that Rock Band will be coming out on PS3, PS2 and Wii on August 29, giving Microsoft a full three months of Xbox 360 exclusivity.
Updates:
VideoGamer.com earlier contacted EA regarding the date following the presence of an August 29 release date on a Rock Band fact sheet.

EA's confirmation has now been retracted. The publisher telling VideoGamer.com that the European release date for Rock Band on PS3, Wii and PS2 "isn't confirmed, and is on the factsheet in error".

Bleh, so over all this EU RB crap. Just import from the US, i did, and i've never regretted it.

It's cheaper and u'll get it quicker.

I'd second that.

We are always getting ripped off over here and with having to wait 3 months longer than 360 users, importing is a no-brainer.

The shipping for a huge Rock Band box is going to rape your wallet. Plus how can you import. Over here it's NTSC, over there it's PAL, and the TV's won't work right? Something like that I think.

Rock Band on PS3 is region free.

Old telly's would've had a problem but i don't know anyone who has a PAL telly that isn't capable of displaying 60hz.

720p is 720p, there is no difference in PAL and NTSC for HD formats.

2.4 - Imports
The PS3 is region free so PAL or NTSC, it doesn't matter.

But I agree with the shipping wallet rape, importing Rock Band will cost a ton in postage...

3 - thats funny
so they are going to make Rock Band a yearly game!

what a joke

hey maybe they can put a few more songs on it this time. Like 100's

If its the same small list of songs i wont be playing it again. Im not paying the extra money just so these ppl can make a fast buck

screw that

if it's a yearly thing then this is a rip off.
they can make $ off the DLC alone.
and there should have been a lot more songs on the disc

It will probably be cheaper when the PS3 version comes out as I feel it is a conspiracy against MS.

6 - Did Rockband live up to all the hype?
I get the feeling the whole complete set of all the plastic instruments and 200 dollar price was too much in the end.

I think most people just stuck with Guitar Hero 3.

The big benefit of Rock Band over Guitar Hero is that Rock Band is a far superior party/co-op game because it offers 4 player co-op rather than just 2 player co-op, and a greater variety of instruments for people to play.

Rock Band also has the big benefit of much better DLC than Guitar Hero.

I've personally witnessed Rock Band convince casual gamers - who laughed at Guitar Hero - to buy both Rock Band and Guitar Hero.

Never underestimate the power of a great party game.

6.4 - rock band
is so much better thatn GH3. better tunes, more fun, more instruments(obviously).

the only drawback is the price tag, but I feel well worth it.

7 - For £180
Even the thought of forking over £180 to EA for a game that's been delayed for over half a year makes me glad that make me glad that if it wasn't for the NHS, I'd rather shoot myself in the foot and use the money for the hospital bill than give it to those scrouging bas***ds.

Screw you EA.

9 - Screw that crap.
Who's bright idea was it over at EA to sell the game and the instruments separately? Either way, those prices are ridiculous. I can't imagine paying $400 for that game.

10 - Rock band will fail in Europe...
The PS3\PS2 and Wii are hotter in Europe than the Xbox 360...

EA is not thinking with their money...unless microsoft paid them some coin to be exclusive in Europe...

11 - Dam
Sucks for Ps3 owners. importing the instruments and games would make it the already exspensive package even more exspensive. But i guess the only other option is to wait....

Add it to the list including home and xmb.

Actually importing it will still be cheaper than buying it in EU.
It comes with a EUR169,- pricetag JUST for the instruments, add EUR49 for the game = EUR 218~ $345 US
The full pack is available for $169 INCLUDING the game, add a generous $100 for shipping and it is STILL cheaper than the store price in Europe. $169,- game + $32 VAT (19%) + $100 shipping = $301 total cost for import <=> $345 local price.

Importing is a no-brainer

...if u import it that is, and give the price of Rock Band in Europe, I can imagine alot of people doing this.

The date does not matter, its the pricetag that will kill the game in Europe. Me and some pals have been waiting for this game since the US release in late 2007, and once we saw the SRP of €169 hardware + €49 game we went from "whohooo, it'l gonna be great" to "ok, ill abstain, thats a bit over the top"

Smart move EA ... as usual you piss of the potential customers with ridicules stunts.
