300,000 copies of Japanese Mario Kart gone already

CVG writes: "Mario Kart Wii has sold over three hundred thousand units in its native country of Japan, reports are suggesting.

According to gaming website Jeux France, the title has racked up the sales after being out for just over twenty-four hours."

Played one cup, before had to leave to a party, and it was a solid fun experience. Need to play the whole game thoroughly, though, before surmising how good it really is.

nintendo has another huge game on its hand.. the wii has nothing to worry about in 08 especially if nintendo drops the price to 199 worldwide.

Nintendo must be doing something right if they can get you guys to pay $50 for a small graphical update with a few new features and pack in essential the same exact game that you can buy for $5.

6 - So true ReSpec no one does it like Nintendo.
There must be magic in the air at Nintendo because i keep buying their consoles/games and they always deliver in the fun factor.

I dislike it a bit, but I haven't tried to play the whole game thoroughly with it. Then again, I used the hardest to control vehicle in the game with the wheel... Should give it another try with a default kart.

-> off to play a bit more.

EDIT: Oh, and online works perfectly. And the new maps are, well, "new". Nothing too drastic. Slight changes into old maps, so sledges of "halfpipesque" parts of the map can be used to gain a boost.

Yeah just like GT5 and MGS and GTA IV. See we can do it too.

300k is a respectable number for a game that will have long legs unlike certain other consoles whose games seem to hit with a bang and then disappear without a trace.

I don't really like the wheel. Or a sole wiimote. I just don't get the good, solid feeling on the cart, since I'm so used to play with an analog stick (what N64?). Once I began using nunchuk and wiimote combination, I've fared a lot better... For example, I had hard time in online with wheel, but with nunchuk and wiimote, I was suddenly winning races.

No problem, and do try it out, the wheel I mean. It didn't do the trick for me, probably because it doesn't feel as good as it does with excite truck, but... Everyone has differing taste, I believe.
