Nintendo Bringing DLC to Super Smash Bros Brawl - New Characters and Stages

Nintendo of America have issued a press release detailing improvements to the Wii's online service:

"No one wants to play the same game forever. However, sometimes it is impractical, both for Nintendo and for our customers, to release a new sequel to all our games every year. In order to solve this problem, Nintendo will begin offering the Wii Want More service this May. By logging into the Wii Shop Channel players will be able to purchase new content for games they already own for a fraction of the price it would cost to buy a new game.

We are pleased to announce that one of 27 games to make use of the Wii Want More service at its launch will be none other than our very own best selling Super Smash Bros.® Brawl! Starting May 13, 2008, players will be able to add four undisclosed new characters and two new stages to the already large roster included in the stand-alone game for only 10.00 USD. Our customers will be even more pleased to discover that this particular package will be offered completely free of charge for the first month after the launch of Wii Want More. A better deal has never been offered by any company in the Video Game industry.

In addition to Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Nintendo will offer content for The Legend of Zelda®: Twilight Princess, Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, Metroid® Prime 3: Corruption, and Mario Kart® Wii, as well as several titles available through the Wii Ware service. Wii Want More will also allow our numerous third party developers to offer downloadable content for both previously released and upcoming games. This spring, be ready to ask for more!

Remember that Wii features parental controls that let adults manage the content their children can access. For more information about this and other Wii features, visit Wii.com."

LOL, I was just thinking the same thing. Prices seem WAY to high if that smash brothers price is any indication. Then again, this looks fake anyway so whatever.

We should approve it anyways. Just so we can here a debunking statement from Nintendo:

"This article is a fake. We are NOT improving our online features. I repeat, we are NOT improving it."

8 - Real Joke's on Nintendo
The funniest thing about this article, is that it's actually a brilliant idea. Of course Nintendo's nowhere near ready for a DLC campaign of that magnitude, but I guarantee you there's a lot of people out there that would happily shell out more moolah for extra dungeons in Zelda or new characters in Brawl.

9 - It did seem real...
...but given that the director of SSB BRAWL has said on the record that they have no plans for DLC, I knew it was too good to be true!

9.1 - Excuse me...
...but in what way would overpriced DLC content that could and thus SHOULD have been in the retail versionin the first place, sound "too good to be true"!?

I'm glad it's just a joke, but it does show in what kind of sad state the gaming-industry is in right now...

i wish this was real.. it sounds so good..
but a few dead give aways its fake

1 - its hosted on http://www.110mb.com/ which is a free host.
2 - give it away for a month for free? sure they did it with the internet browser but i'm sure they would not do it for their most popular game..

and question (please PM me the answer if you know)

but for DLC to be available in a game does it have to be written into the code of the game that would allow the DLC to be loaded from another location? i mean somewhere in the code it must say.. when boot check so and so and if there is anything here load it with the game... or can any game get DLC? (mainly talking about early 360 games, since i know most new ones have some DLC)

Yeah, Nintendo improve online features, please. They still think that online features are just some kind of a fad. It would be great if they did, but too bad it happens to be april fools time.

17 - This has got to be true
It could be the best thing on Wii yet, we know Sakurai said no DLC, but this sounds like a well-though idea, "Wii Want More" just sounds authentic.

I'll just wait till May then, got nothing to lose on having faith in something that could turn real by ppl's demands...

24 - Someone should
E-mail this to Nintendo along with a the sentence quoting I think Miyamoto (or Reggie) saying that "new dungeons for Zelda would come out via Wii Connect 24" and then follow up by telling Nintendo to get with the program and keep their promises...

** What will happen if you phish OR spam with your account... **

"110mb has already captured your REAL I.P. address via multiple advanced protocols (even if it's being faked by Proxy services). Should we find you spamming or phishing (like eBay, MySpace, PayPal, etc...), your ISP will be contacted to have your internet connection shut down. "
