The Wii isn't really a console for so-called 'real gamers'. I say that with no fanboyism intended, as Nintendo don't seem to care much about the 'hardcore' gaming crowd. That's a shame, because it means Nintendo are going to turn something that has so much potential into a fad that's going to pass in a year or two, or maybe even more.

Nintendo are now the Hilary Clinton of gaming; working out which demographic they can get the most success out of, and completely ditching the other.

The Wii's still awesome though, but I don't know how I could survive on the Wii alone.

actually Nintendo still honors the real gamer with games that are meant to be played with full enjoyment. Not confussing plot lines and overbearing controls and trick you into buying the same game as last year with a polished up look. So yes Wii is for real gamers just like the other systems out there. I say this with no fanboyism either

I see your point, but to be honest, the amount of shovelware on the Wii is just testament to the sort of direction Nintendo are going with it. Now with the news of EA 'jumping on the Wii bandwagon', things don't seem to be getting any better anytime soon, if ever.

I do like the Wii, i mean really I do, but if it was my only console, I think I'd go insane...

True but really that shovelware is the direction the 3rd parties tried to steer the Wii not Nintendo. Nintendo wants a good mixture of new and old, and you have to attract the new ones first.

Where the hell does that "hardcore" come anyway? Who is hardcore? Is it a self proclaimed title to make oneself feel above others? I don't and won't understand why that name has been associated with gaming that way... Ugh.

I'll tell you what's hardcore though. Try and play Diablo 2 with hardcore on. And make that character reach lvl 99.

Nintendo still let it happen, though. And I know that Nintendo knows what a quality game is, since they just about made most of them.

I know it sounds like I'm hating, but I just don't like what these third party mercenaries are doing to the games industry.
Problem is, millions upon millions of people still buy their crappy ports and tired re-hashes, so these corporations don't feel as though they need to change their ways, as they're achieving their main goal; they're making money.
I guess this is just the downside of targeting the 'casual gamer'.

And keiZka, I agree it's a silly term, but it's infectious, I'm starting to use it now...
I guess people just think it sounds better than 'Nerd'.

9 - This is great news -
online chat is overrated and so are graphics. The PS3 and XBox360 have no chance against the next-generation Wii. Wii has already won the console war and re-written next-gen gaming history. I mean I don't know of any other console that has a game that has scored an 11/10! That's a real honor and a real testament that SD televisions are here to stay.

The people have spoken and Wii is the future. I really hope the PS3 and 360 follow suit; in the meantime - I'm going to buy a Wii today and get wii-fit.

Explain why any chat is needed for a racing game...you don't use teamwork, all it is for is to talk crap, and that drives people away from the game more than people that actually care about voice chat. Mariokart will sell a crapload anyways, mainly cause it's nintendo.

Hi guys,
almost everyone is pretty mad about the childish text chat feature nintendo is offering. Honestly i was cursing nintedo for doing that. but more i think i realize it better not to have voice chat. also i believe they could've filtered text chat, but i think they dont want to spend time to do that. nintendo trying to keep their system family friendly.

no matter how many features you add(e.g. voice chat) you can tell blindly that most of us gamers will misuse it.

it's hard to be on the right side with everyone is pleased. it's like telling kids not to do something they want to do even if u know they r going to be mad at u.

nintendo is not parenting us, they r simply trying to avoid the bad stuff.

it's not fair not to have freedom, but sometimes all the freedom is not good at all.

Wow, I can really feel the love in this room.
I have no love for the voice chat...especially when every 3rd or 5th word is F this and F that.

Nintendo only really needs SSBB to sell Wii's this yr and a Kart game will just push it along.

mario kart on the DS had me hooked i bet this game will do the same, " chatting " is a nice feature but you dont need it to enjoy the game.
Mario kart DS proved that.

with leader boards and stuff like that there is still a decent online mode.

and [most] of you gamers who complain about this dont even like the Wii..so why bother anyway ?

Nintendo has always considered itself a Family console, ALWAYS. Any game it makes directly will never let an uncensored stranger possibly talk to a child, EVER. They never have they never will...

If you NEED Voip in a game dont buy Nintendo they will NEVER do it. I'm so sick of people being suprised and angry at each nintendo game that comes out without it.
