USA Today - Eight promising games for '08

OnAxis reports USA Today recently let out their list for the top eight promising games for 2008. Out of the eight games, four are for the PLAYSTATION 3, two on the Xbox 360, two on the Wii, and one on the PC.

Last year, video gamers were greeted with a bounty of top-notch titles, from Halo 3 to Super Mario Galaxy. Can enthusiasts expect more of the same? Here's eight promising games for 2008.

1) Grand Theft Auto 4 (PS3/360)
2) Killzone 2 (PS3)
3) LittleBigPlanet (PS3)
4) Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (PS3)
5) Spore (PC/Mac)
6) Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii)

2008 is looking to be as exciting for gaming as 2007 was, sony definitely has it to lose if they screw up with this line up. but as most know, its to be assured all the systems have some tricks up their sleeves, gunna be a fun year.

MGS4 is probably going to be a great game. No doubt about it.

However, MGS4 is NOT a casual game. The stealth action genre is anything but casual. It will sell well, but not for everyone.

I think MGS 4 should be higher than KZ2 and LBP... maybe that is just my thing. Anyone think that too?

Also, I don't understand how Ninja Gaiden 2 isn't on there either... maybe just that there hasn't been much information on it until just recently.

This game is going to suck why is it on the list what about he big dog resistance 2 the first one sold over 3 million copies why is this not on the list and for the 360 NG2 is the best game why is that in the list’s. Sony is the big dog this year and they still have not announce their secrets games. MS should really show Gears Of War 2 soon and it better be the greatest thing ever if not there are done and if FF13 ships this year the 360 is dead.

It's just madness this year on the PS3..

Why is everyone taking this list so seriously anyway. I mean honestly since when does USA Today know so much about gaming that they can come up with an accurate list.

There are a few things wrong with this list like Wii Fit for one (oooh I can virtually hula-hoop, yay) and the fact that the list is somewhat biased twords the 360 as there are some really big anticipated games for it like Fable 2, Alan Wake, Halo Wars, Ninja Gaiden 2, Left 4 Dead, and possibly Gears of War 2 (we'll see after the GDC's on that one). Please don't take this as a fanboy comment, I am just stating that this article seems a little biased to me.

Obviously there is allot of hype for PS3 games since PS3 owners hardly have gotten any AAA games from the release of their system and they are anxious to see their investment pay off.
You wont here as much from XBOX fans simply because they are busy playing all the terrific games that are ALREADY out there and arent WAITING anxiously with plenty of time on their hans like most WAITSTATION3 owners.

My only question is Why is LBP, Too Human and KZ2 up there? I don't see any of these titles being anything special. Where is Ninja Gaiden 2, Banjo 3, and Fable 2? Even Halo Wars and Starcraft 2 will have a bigger impact then most of the games up there. I agree with GTA IV though. This game is going to sell millions. This is one title that will outsell everything on the PS3, XBox 360 and Wii in Worldwide sales. Here's what the list should have looked like.

1) GTA IV (PS3/360)
2) StarCraft 2 (PC)
3) MGS4 (PS3)
4) Ninja Gaiden 2 (360)
5) Super Smash Brothers Brawl (Wii)
6) Halo Wars (360)
7) WoW: Wrath of the Lich King (PC)
8) GT5 (PS3)
