Virtua Tennis 2009 is the latest iteration in the long-running arcade tennis franchise, and the first version for Wii to support the Wii MotionPlus controller attachment. More than 20 licensed tennis stars, including Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova, and Andy Roddick, are playable in the game, which features a dozen whimsical mini-games in addition to the traditional tennis matches.
The Wii Remote is used like a tennis racquet in the game, with various movements used to control your character on the court. If you're right-handed, swings to the left will be interpreted as forehand hits, while swings to the right will be backhands (reverse for left-handed players), and you serve by motioning upwards and swinging back down. Your character will automatically move near the ball, though you can manually control his/her movements with the directional pad on the Wii Remote. Alternately, you can plug in the Nunchuk attachment to the Wii Remote and control your player with the analog stick.
