The
numbers don't lie, Sony's juggernaut Playstation 3 is over 6 million
units behind the Xbox 360. The price of the console is twice as much as
the 360. So if Sony cannot cut the price, what is there for them to do to save the console?
The could make a deal with the devil. Nintendo, yes you heard
me right the Big N Sony's #1 rival for over a decade but things have changed recently, the path Nintendo has gone down has geared them
towards casual gamers, little kids and grandmas. If that's the route
Nintendo wants to take then the chances are they will not make hardcore
games from the Star Fox, F-Zero or Legend of Zelda series. Those great
franchises are going to waste if Nintendo won't use them.
Well
imagine this, Sony gives of the license for Little Big Planet to
Nintendo for them to make a LBP Wii and in exchange Nintendo gives the
rights of the Zelda or F-Zero series to SCEA. Just imagine how epic
Zelda would be if it was made by the creators of Shadow of the Colossus
or God of War. The game could have amazing graphics, hours apon hours
of side quests and even online via Playstation Network. All the
hardcore fans Nintendo has ditched have all moved to a new system. Now
what better way to get them to choose PS3 over Xbox 360 than a title
from there most beloved franchise. Zelda is a very valuable franchise
so Nintendo might not give it up even for rights to a LBP game. So if
the deal was LBP for F-Zero, now F-Zero could be taken far on the PS3's
hardware. They could rethink the series and turn it into a free-roam
racer like Burnout Paradise. Miles apon miles of futuristic racing
would be one epic game.
But on the downside, one of PS3's
killer app games would have a title on the Wii so it might drive some
people off from buying the PS3 if LBP is available on the Wii.
Could this be Sony's saving grace or would it hurt them more than it would help?
