Phoenix Games Reviews TNA IMPACT

In a Review of TNA IMPACT! from Phoenix Games Victor Alvarez writes: It's not as deep, nuanced or attractive as the current wrestling game prom queen, but "TNA IMPACT!" from Midway is a welcome addition to the dance with a ton of potential that will hopefully be realized in upcoming installments.

If you ask some people, there hasn't been a first class wrestling game since "No Mercy" on the N64. There's no question that was a great game. It did nearly everything right. Most people could pick it up and play it immediately and then spend months perfecting its timing and blocking mechanics. It was one of the last great fighting games that didn't require a Madden-esque command of the controller buttons to enjoy.

Now we have "TNA IMPACT!" bravely entering the arena and some of that old "No Mercy" simplicity and charm comes with it – at a price. You'll like that the game accommodates all skill levels and offers a refreshing change from the (typically excellent) WWE titles, but you'll eventually find it to be a shallow experience that seems like a first step toward (hopefully) deeper installments in the future...
